Yes, it is worth it. But make sure you read all the TOS before signing up. I make more in residual income than I do on AC.

Residual income? Do you mean the monthly page view income for existing articles?

It is worth writing at Helium. You can earn every month and your earnings can depend on dedication and willingness to write more. Rating is important too there to make additional earnings.

I think it is a good site. I don't make payout ($25) every month, but more often every other month. I enjoy the fact that they provide the titles for you to write (topics). Yes, you can submit your own, but they have plenty to choose from.
The thing you have to watch with Helium is the star rating system. You get stars for writing and for reading other people's articles and rating them. You need at least one writing star and one rating star to get paid. Once you start writing, it's not too hard to maintain your momentum. For each additional writing star, you earn more for your articles when published.
Good luck with the site and your writing!

I am surprised you don't make payout every month. You seem to be always writing about some artistic or creative thing and the craft section earns well.

I think it is. I find it good because of being able to earn some money from it. I'm glad they offer up-front. This is where I've been focusing my writing on and able to make some serious money from it considering I've been going to school lately and being able to balance it out.

Helium is a great site for writers who are not in the US. Associated Content pays US citizens upfront payments as well as page views. You have to be a US resident or taxpayer for tax purposes.
Helium is a legit site. I personally do not like it as much as Associated Content, but I do make money off of it so I can't complain too much. LOL
Good luck if you join.

It took me a little while to figure helium out. It is very easy to earn there once you understand how the site works. Once I understood the site and started actively writing I reached my first payout in one month. I have not missed a payout since, even when my computer was out of commission and I could not post much.

I recently got scammed by helium
I Would suggest to stay away from that website.
Anyway, you have to be damn good to write big 100$ articles to get 1$ for them.
Otherwise you will get 1 cent for your articles.
Helium are criminals!
Again I will say it and nothing can stop me...

I gave a look at Helium a few weeks ago but I don't like you have first to write things for free to put up some points. Also I researched through their artice requests and most of are for professional journalists. And I find that really stupid, you don't need to be a journalist to know about a subject, you can actually know much more and write better because that subject is more your field. Aww...that all looked to me like a waste of time, also things seem to take a load of time to pick up because you have to write things for free for picking up points to access higher tasks. Bah!
I'm looking at associated content right now, let's see. I do prefer mylot, where the writing tasks are open to all.

I enjoy using Helium because there are many topics to write about, and you can get paid for your articles. The contests are a great way to get attention to your writing. The Marketplace is a great opportunity to get your quality work out there and make some extra cash.
Some users become frustrated with the site because their writing starts fluctuate due to ratings, but I think that if you stick to it, Helium is well worth your time. Using it with other writing sites, like Associated Content, is also a good option because then you have more opportunities to get your work out there.
