Do you know how to change a flat tyre???

I haven't yet changed changed a flat tyre. Once the tyre got flat and fortunately my friend knew how to do it, so it was done. I have got my fair bit of theoretical knowledge, that I have to put in the jack, bring in the stepney, and remove the screws diagonally and finally fit in the spare tyre. Have you ever done it yourself? Any funny incident you remember doing it? Or are you waiting still that once it happens then I will come to know about it? Do you call the helpline if you have got it flat? Share your experiences. P.S. I am gonna do it for myself this weekend.

Back when I was younger I would make sure I could remove the lug nuts cause I changed the flats, but now that I'm younger I just call the road service GUYS to change them.

I just hope that I atleast know how to do it. The road service here won't be that prompt, I bet.

The biggest problem I had was that alot of tire places put the lug nuts on very tight and you'll need a longer lug wrench then what's supplied I use to carry a larger one with me in the trunk. Looked like a large plus sign with four different sized lug wrenches.

I was highly amused by the way you spelled tire. Little things amuse me quite easily. And to answer your question not I have not had to change a flat before. But if I did I would probably call AAA because my best friend has that and so does my gurlfriend. Also at one point I let someone borrow my jack and I am not really sure if I ever did get it back or not. Jen aka Kittykat7983

Hey Kittykat, I was really wondering why the spell check was showing it as a misspelling. I guess its just out of habit that I spell "tyre" insead "tire". like "colour" instead "color" So who was the one who borrowed your jack and won't return it? What if something happens to your "tyres"? Although I pray that doesn't happen. Bodhi

I am not really sure who borrowed it but I think it is possible it was returned or was in my gurlfriends car because I think I remember letting her borrow it once but then we had it in her car. That was her old car so I am not positive if it ever did get put back into my car or not and it is way too much work for me to check right now cus my trunk is full of recyclables at the moment. I am sure I will get the chance to check if its there or not and if not I will have to replace it because if it wasn't put back then it's probably long gone lost to who knows where. I know a lot of people have had to deal with flat tires, and I have never had to deal with a flat tire myself, and I have never had to change a flat tire, but I am pretty sure I know how to do it,and could if I had to,and I have seen a friend change a flat tire, and I have also seen people on television change a flat tire, and I am sure that one day me and my wife will have to deal with a flat tire, and hope when we do I will be ready, even though it will hopefully not be anytime soon.

I am glad that u check your tires regularly and I would not wish a blown tire on my worst enemy, because it is not fun,and I know my parents always check the tires, and I know when me and my wife get a car we will always check the tires so we can make sure they are in good shape.

I hope and pray too that I don't have to go through that ordeal. It is cumbersome. Thats why I check my tyres regularly and see to it that the pressure is ok. I have had recently criss-crossed my tyres after I completed 10000 kms.

Changing a tyre is something everyman should know how to do, you never know when you might come across a damsel in distress lol. I used to work during the summer as a tyre fitter as a teen, so I have a lot of experience with changing wheels. I reckon I could do it blindfolded

No I cannot do it. I did learn how to do it if this happened in an emergency and I was driving alone. I rally do not remember how to do it now. I would just call someone and wait!

Hi, I am not quite sure whether I would be able to do it. But it is better to learn it or else I might be stranded someday.

I haven't tried to change one but Ive seen it done. It's difficult but I want to learn how in case of emergency and if no one is around to do that for me. But if you have a chance to ask for an experienced person to do that, the better.

I know. I know. Typical female here. Yes, I don't know how to change a tire. I'll be the one standing at the side of the road in tears if i had a flat tire. I do know you have to jack up the vehicle and take off lug nuts, take off tire and replace with new one. I just don't have the talent to combine it all.

Well I am just telling it to you, please don't anybody else know it, that even I don't know how to do it. But probably I won't be even help to cry standing alone by the road. Well you can count a male who lacks the combined talents. HEhehehehee

Hi, bodhisatya, that is an excellent question, I had an experience in changing flat tire, but the car was not belonged by me, it was of my friend's car. the story is like this: Saturday in week. we four guys just finished dinner, and planed going to one friends' home for majiang( a famous game in china), and we all got in the car then started to go. we were so happy of a nice night ahead, everything seemd very well that time. the vehicle has been driven for near by half an hour, one guy told us he want to get some money from the bank, so we stoped the car, No any signs, he shouted us while he got off the car that he found out one tire of the car has got flat. that was so ridiculous. we all rided the car for a while, but no one feels something wrong. if this guy got off for money, maybe we would drive a flat car till we got home. we all had not gotten experienced in changing tire, so we just called the helpline for help. Once i imagined the story, I can not get help to stop laughing.

Who do they think they are kidding with those flashing bannders, saying you won something. They suck! Always trying to sucker you into buying something you don't even want. Be warned, nothing's free these days.
