Hi friends, there was an alert this morning from mylot which says that some members are asking to transfer them money through their paypal account and after sometime they will get their money back with handsome returns. Have you come across such tasks and have you transferred any money to any member through paypal for earnings? Mylot says it could be scam, what is your own opinion about it. Thanks in advance for your comments.

Hi sree!
I have not participated in such task, where investing money or donating money is involved. I was just curious, whether some of us go for this kind of tempting earnings or they just ignore it. Thanks for joining us.

Hi Deepak. That has all the earmarks of a scam. No one should have to "pay" to do work for another, so that would send out instant warning flags!
We live in a world where we must be extremely cautious not to be scammed.
Thank you for bringing this up.

Hi Karen!
You are absolutely right that these kind of offers could only be but scam and people should not get trapped in such offers. Our greed sometimes lead us to this kind of offers. It is better to take precautions rather than looking for remedies, when one gets entraped. Thanks for your useful inputs and advice.
Have a great day!
Deepak
PS - I would have seen your response in the normal couse, but I was transported to it by your another discussion, which says that your name has been underlines in blue, however, I do not see any blue lines against your name, when I opened your response to my discussion. Are you still able to see those blue lines?

You would think someone who works with MyLot would read these "task" before posting them here.
I'm sure if they did it would not have been in their task section. These kind of scams start up just before every holiday and there are some who are willing to believe them. These scammers get a lot of money from people who do not know how to check out the offers. I used to do money trades and I lost thousands to one guy who immediately did a cash back at Paypal. He did this to over 15 people before Paypal caught on to his trick. The Internet is full of thieves just waiting to take your money anyway they can. We have all become skeptical of any offer whether it cost or not.

Hi Kow!
Many thanks for sharing your own experience and doing analysis how people start scams and how others get entrapped in it. I agree that mylot people may not read all the dubious tasks, till they are informed about it. It is disheartening to not that you lost your hard earned money. Nice to meet you.

hi dpk yes I read that alert too and was shocked that mylot
had not tested these people for scams before,I was very lery
of any task asking you to give them money.no I am not givning money to someone so I can make some money. that is really
'nuts.as mylot admins said if the task is too good to be true
then it is not true,so do not walk, but run from this. It is
a scam.

Hi Hatley!
I too was surpised to see and read the alert. I was also wondering how some people dare to post such tasks and they hope that some members may fall into their trap, if they act greedy. These kind of people should be filtered and on our part, we should remain alert, while tackling these kind of offers.
Many Thanks for your very valuable advice.

I lurk at the tasks section an I have seen a lot of those "double-your-money" tasks. i have to admit I accepted 3 of them. Yes I know it was kinda fishy but the promise wa just too good to be true. the first time was donate $10 to make $20 and I accepted the task knowing that I would never ever fall for it again. luckily i got paid. the next were $5 for $10 and luckily I was paid immediately. I dont really know what the creator of the task is up to (and I dont know what I was thinking either) but hopefully that would be the last time I am accepting the task. I also heard there are some mylotters wo never received their payment so it makes me think why i received mine. i tried canging passwords and clearing the cache just so i can make sure they wont be sniffed. i am also thinking now of changing my paypal email address. Now, i dont really know if i will consider myself lucky that i got paid after all the transactions i made..but hopefully i wasnt scammed or will not be scammed in any way. i'll just try my best to stay away from this type of task from now on..I've promised that before but I will really try to live with it from now on..

Hi dear!
Thanks for your detailed reply and sharing your experience. It shows that you were lucky enough to get back your money with returns, however, you are getting cautious in investing more. I theink precaution is better than cure. We all are somewhat greedy in earning more money and we tend to get entrapped in such offers, one time or the other.

yes very true. and i know that if i ever get scammed, it's because i became too greedy. i know far too well how fishy and dangerous those type of tasks are but i still chose to proceed..i really dont know what i was thinking that time or if i was actually thinking lol..anyway, i still have my payment on my mylot account on pending but if i receive it this month, finally i will be fine..but knowing that the payment is on mylot already, i am rest-assured i am gonna receive it. :D

Good that the admin send out alert to us so we are more aware of what is happening here. As in the real world, conman are everywhere and it only takes a weak person to fall prey to their tricks. I am quite weak in the sense I believe people easily but I am trying to be more careful when money is concern and I will not transfer my hard earned money in my paypal to undeserving people who are not only unknown to me but no reason for me to pay them.

Hi Zandi!
I know about you and I also feel the same way that 'smart conmen' are always there to rob us of our hard earned money, be it in real life or on-line business. It is advisable not to throw away our hard earned money for the sake of some unknown and unconfirmed profits. Thanks for sharing and joining us.

I heard about these tasks last week because one of my friends did one and got paid which was very well but I would not feel comfortable doing such a task. Why would someone pay you to put money in your PayPal? Could they want your PayPal details? I don’t see any valid reason for anyone requesting you to put pay $5 and then receive $10 back the stipulation being that you use PayPal. Sound fishy to me...
I think we should heed MyLot's warning...

Hi Paula!
I feel that you are thinking on the correct lines, if you are not comfortable or convinced about putting your money in such tasks, it is better to avoid the same. It is also not clear to me why would someone pay me more more than my investment, what is he going to earn from my money. Thanks for sharing your candid opinion and joining us.

Not me Deepak. I have not run across these tasks but I did get that alert. I don't think I would have participated even if I have though. It can be a shame for some because we trust this site and it's tasks. I would think it was a scam had I run across it.

well I never got that alert... the rule online is NEVER give anybody any money no matter who they are or what they are... the only money you use is when you are shopping online and thats it.. never at any point give any money to any mylotter asking you...

Hi jelly!
It does not matter much, if you did not get the alert. My discussion is a kind of gist of that alert. Your advice sounds very practical. It would be better not to transfer any money to unknown souls through net. Also, it would be saner not to go for this kind of trap, where we are not sure about the outcome. Many Thanks for your very valuable advice.
Deepak
PS - How are you doing?

Yes, I have seen those tasks and they looked fishy to me. Why would the task creator asking for $5 and give back $10, right?! It doesn't make sense at all. If he is so 'generous', why not just offer $5 to everybody??
I have encountered a discussion from one Lotter about it. So, I responded that a donation is not a task. A donation means something that we give with sincere hearts and never expected anything in return.
Anyway, I hope the admin will double their screening procedures before publishing any task, and to all fellow Lotters, be very careful not to disclose any personal information or log in your Paypal ID from other page. To be safe, change your passwords just in case.

Hi corry!
Like you I am also not able to understand how $5, if invested or donated, could become $10. We all are logical people and without logic, we refrain from pluning into new ventures. The fellow might be after our details about our paypal ID. Thanks for your invaluable suggestions.

Hi deepak, I read thru the entire discussion. I wish mysdianait would also come and offer her comments. :) But my stand on it, somebody has to experiment with it in small way, and thereafter let others know whether or not this is a scam. I am sure mylot admin cannot really do that. I dont do tasks other than those that I am sure about like Sharon's. So I am not gullible per se. But yes, I did invest $5 this morning. And all u folks out there, who ever is interested in knowing how this goes, keep checking this discussion. :)

Hi Vandana!
You are a very mature and sane person. If you read other responses, you will come to know that there may be some dubious tasks, which offer you more earnings if you make some kind of donations etc. I think, you would invested your $5 wisely at some safe place.. Mylot has warned on their part, it is for the members to understand the scams. Many thanks for sharing.
have a great day!

This scam is not just targeted here on MyLot. There has been an influx of such scams going on for a while now on different Social Sites. One way that this is being done is that the scammer is posing as a "friend" , actually someone you may know or be corresponding with. You will receive a message stating that "Your Friend" (Will give a name)has been robbed or has lost their wallet/purse or whatever, is stuck somewhere and wants you to assist them in getting back home promising to pay you back. They will have a PayPal account set up just for this.
Just beware, as the person sending you the request may not be whom they seem to be.
To Your Success,
Charles

Hi Deepak,
I did see an alert when I logged in, but I was quite busy at that time and did not open it. However, now that I am here once again, I don’t see that alert any more. Well, even if I had seen it, I would not have transferred my money to anybody…I think mylot’s correct in saying that it’s a scam.

I know about you and I can say with conviction that you won't throw away your hard earned money for the sake of some unknown and unconfirmed profits. Does not matter, if you could not see it, my discussion is gist of that alert. Thanks for sharing and joining us.

So far, as of this moment, I haven't experienced being scammed with tasks. First, I have no time to do such tasks as I am a lot busy with work and only doing posting when I am on mylot. I also haven't tried creating a task on here and I have no plan of doing it.
