What would be in your thoughts in a journey… alone?

Hi friends, Usually I am traveling alone to my office, means I don’t have any friends to accompany me in bus in the morning. Evening may be some friends are there to talk and share jokes etc. There is only 20 minutes travel distance for me to reach my office if there is no traffic blocks. On the way I am thinking about my old friends, childhood, etc sometimes I feel to laugh aloud by remembering some jokes by friends. (I may not laugh and controlled in a smile otherwise my co-passengers think that I am mad). What about you friends, if you are traveling alone then what would be in your minds? Do you think about your olden days or just watch outside and enjoy the beauty of nature?

hello sreekala! when i am traveling alone, the usual things that comes to my mind are the things that i will be doing on the place where i am going...hehe when i was still working, i have almost an hour travel from home to office and during that time, its either i am sleeping or just thinking on what to do in the office and how will be my day will turn to... but there are also times that i don't think such things, but instead, i am reminiscing some happy memories in the past or just recent things that happens to me and those thoughts can really makes me smile alone! and sometimes, i just enjoy the scenery outside and not thinking anything...just relaxing my mind... so everything depends on my mood in a particular day! happy posting!

Hi ckyera, One hour journey is enough to have a nice nap. Recollecting the old memories may give smiles to our face. I don’t think about my work in travel and enjoying my thoughts. Have a great weekend, enjoy it.

Hi Sree! I normally drive my bike to reach my office and many a times my better half gives me company. Driving has become a ritual and a sub-conscious activity and we travel by the same roads everyday. I mean driving goes on automatically, and when it is heavy traffic, I slow down, as per the requirements and when there is any empty road, I usually (automatically) accelerate my speed. Nonetheless, thoughts about past happenings, recent happenings, mylot friends, mylot discussions and about daily pending chores keep traveling in mind. I cannot stop flow of thoughts……LOL! Many years ago, I used to come to office by a charted bus. In the bus, we had a group of 3-4 friends and we used to share about our experiences and day-to-day life with each other and time would pass very soon, we would not realize, when we reached our office or home. Compared to previous mode of travel, I find that driving is a big hazard on road and one needs to be super alert, while driving, which adds extra stress and strain on mind. Good Post! Plus rated.

Hi Deepak, Don’t tell me that the chartered bus groups were better than having bhabi pillion-ride with her arms around you!!! How unromantic

Hi Sudipta You are right up to an extent, however, fact of the matter is romanticism gets lost in overbearing heavy traffic and sometimes it becomes even difficult to talk with each other. She accompanies me only in the mornings. In the evenings, I drive down to my home all alone. However, while traveling in a charted bus, one can converse easily and comfortably with fellow passengers/friends, with no tension of driving the vehicle. Deepak

I too think about the past while traveling long distances alone.I prefer train,if not possible then resort to my own vehicle. I too use to think about the embarrassing situations I had confronted and the good old days.Sometimes,as you said,I suddenly become conscious of the one sitting next to me and had to struggle hold back smile.Or if I had the feeling that somebody saw me smiling alone what I do is to pass it off as something happened to my cheeks and correcting it lol.I think it happens to a lot of us.There are times when the involuntary fancies of our brain can't be controlled.

ha ha not at all, duppatta is worn by ladies along with salwar/churidhar. The other word of dupptta is 'chunni' but in Kerala people are calling the same 'shawl'. Hope you got my point.

Hi Cosmo, I agree the train journey is more comfortable than the road (especially in our place, lol) we never feel tiredness on train journey. But in self drive you can't think much.(am I right?). Nice option to hide the smile, for ladies more options are there, can hide the same with a duppatta... etc Have a great time.

Hi Sree, it's nice to know that you enjoy so much in your 20 journey to the office every morning. From your description I could imagine there is a beautiful lady with smiling face sitting alone in the bus Actually there are lots of thought in her mind...even some are ridiculous... I usually go to work by driving. I never switch off my car radio, so I start the car engine I could hear melodious song on the air. I like singing or humming song which I'm familiar with It's really interesting as well to watch different people doing different activities outside the window. In the 20 minutes or so journey I will pass by some stalls. When seeing people selling fried banana or other delicious foods there I have the thought to taste it. I get excited and keen to get the food. But eventually I don't stop for it as I scare that I might be late for work. But it's sad that when I pass by the stall after my office time the stalls are closed I think I would not be able to resist my temptation and stop to get the tasty food one day lol... Have a wonderful day and happy posting!

So keep them nicely for me. I would visit you at anytime lol....Have a beautiful Sunday and bye....

Do mail your address I will send enough banana chips for you. If you taste our banana chips once then you may think to drive to our place… Hope your ‘Day’ was wonderful and you enjoyed it.

Me? a bunch of memories. Most likely it would be how to gain upper hand in our daily lives...thinking some strategies to survive financially in our economic crisis world. Well, sometimes reminiscing some good old days at my younger years. Wishing I could turn back the hands of time...and go back to the past...Thanks

Hi Sreekala, I just commute in going to work alone. Right after i give my fare, i will pray for safety, watch the bus video and then take a nap. I don't mind what's happening around me even my co-passengers-- i am just enjoying my time with myself napping. Don't worry i am half-awake so i will not miss my area.

You now what? my family and friends are so bothered about this "hobby" of me of taking a nap while mobile especially that i am taking the public vehicle and a cab. But i really can't help it. The moment i sit down and relax my back after i inform the driver where i am going and after i make the sign of the cross to ask god to take care of me i will enjoy my trip by napping. I don't care about the traffic at least i have all the time to relax.

Hi msfrancisco, Now God can only help you. Your family and friends bothered about your safety. Anyway take care. I know some people sleeping on their way, but they are coming after the night duty so it natural to caught with sleep. Two days before my niece came to our place after her night duty and I was worried about her, what happened to her etc and finally she came one hour late and I asked what happened, she told, she slept in bus and the bus stopped in the last stop (which is three stops after our place) they (bus staff) wake her up then only she realized that she already crossed the exact stop. She said she felt very bad on her deep sleep in bus (the same thing happened to her first time).

I don't travel to work or use public transport at all, but I do a lot of long distance driving, usually by myself, and I love the peace and solitude. I very often drive to the capital which is a 4 hour plus drive and to other places 4 - 6 hours away. I have music playing, but it is usually soft, instrumental music, light classical or Gospel, and does not interfere with my thoughts. I do a lot of thinking and planning in regards to my voluntary work and sometimes even talk to myself, gathering my thoughts. I very seldom get tired, and if I do I change the CD to vocal songs and sing along with them. Driving is a happy experience.

I assure you my music does not distract me while driving. I have been driving for nearly 60 years and have never had an accident. I currently drive 25,000-30,000kms a year but did drive much more than that when younger.

Hi cloudwatcher, So you love music and driving, isn't it? While driving you should concentrate more on road so it may interrupt your thoughts. You have your own vehicle so no need to depend on public transport. For me I don’t know driving and even if I know driving I don’t have the courage to drive in this busy city. I am depending on public transport for office purpose. Thanks for sharing. Have a nice time and safe trip always. Take care.

Hi neo_matrix, Does it mean that you are not travelling long distance now. One and half hour is a long journey and have enough time to listen radio/music. If there is no regular co-passenger then you can think calmly whatever you want. I think we all are thinking about past and remember about old friends etc. in our journey. Thanks for sharing and joining. Have a nice day.

When I am alone and lonely not necessarily be on a journey, my mind will wonder in the horizon and bring me to places where I have walked before in the previous chapters of my life like when I was in my teenage days, the sweet experiences that have created great impact in my life and the carefree life that I once enjoyed. I enjoy being alone sometimes as I have the chance to rekindle past memories.

that's really a great time to be alone when on the bus to the office. there are too much things can be done. if not a good sleep in the last night, then u can have a rest on the seat or stand. u also can listen to radio of the musics or news. and watch the scenes or people passing by, think what u want to think, recall the old days, plan the future, ...really too much.

Sometimes, I just enjoy everything I see while on my way. I end up just observing everything I see on the way. At times, I also think of whatever happened in the past few days.
