Romance Reading is one of my favorite pasttimes. But, i am very picky about the types of romances I read.
I mainly read Harlequin novels because I like a quick read and it's mainly about the story for me. But, I've found that I much prefer the older Harlequin Romances to the newer ones.
I like the storylines from the 1950s to the 1980s. The plotlines are more intense, the characters seem less frivolous, and the titles are more creative than the current billionair, mistress, pregnant titles.
Which Harlequins do you prefer?

When it comes to Harlequin, I have just discovered that some of them are really great books! I used to think they were lame, poorly written books but I picked one up from a bookshelf (take a book, leave a book type of thing) in a motel I was staying at. I thought, what the heck, it's free, I'll give it a try. It turned out I really enjoyed it. After that I picked up a few other Harlequin books at garage sales and many of them I didn't like. I find that it depends on the author, so now, I will look for Gina Wilkins and a couple of others because I know those will be good.
You make an interesting point about the older titles possibly being better. I am a fan of some of the older romantic suspense novels by Victoria Holt and Dorothy Eden and authors like them, so perhaps I will check out some older Harlequin books when I'm at sales!

do you also read, Love Inspired series? My younger sister adores it.
What made you think the older series are intense? I'd like to read some of them too, just to compare them with the recent ones. XD
