What do guys think? Zoos do harm or good? I believe that zoos do more harm than good because they have to stay outside the natural environment. They are not free. This is true that some zoos work for the prevention of extinction of animals but on the other hand even this is true that animals are after all a living being. Even they need to stay freely.... They should not be made to stay in the cages. What do you guys say? How can you say that zoos do more harm than good???

Not many zoos keep their animals this way any more. That set-up is very much a thing of the past, and the habitats are built to be as close to each animal's natural home as possible.

Zoos vary considerably so a zoo in America would probably try to keep its animals in the best way that they are able to think of. They can't recreate the natural environment though. The animals are unlikely to have the same amount of space the wild animals in their native habitat have. Polar bears come from a winter like environment not somewhere like San Diego. In Indonesia I have seen crocodiles very crowded together and a sign saying that tourists could pay a fee to see the crocodiles feed. Certainly wild crocodiles in Australia have a happier life. Even in a wildlife park there they would have decent treatment. Some zoos do important breeding programs.
Children like to visit zoos. I am lucky because I have traveled to see wildlife like kangaroos in Australia, penguins in New Zealand, sharks in French Polynesia, orangutans in Indonesia and lions in Kenya. Not everyone has had the same opportunity as me. I think zoos do harm some animals. I have a vegan diet and I love animals.
