Hey ya'll! I was just stopping by here to see if anybody knew where I could get any type of free knitting supplies. It's the beginning of fall and I've started working on some blankets and thought about taking them to the local shelter for the chidlren. Thought it mught be nice for them to have something that is copletely theirs that they could carry around and wrap up in. Unfortunatly I can't spend alot of money on this project and seem to be running out of yarn faster then I had expected. Is there anybody that knows where to pick up some free yarn or very cheap yarn. I've tried hitting all the craft stores on sale days but even marked 25% off it's still over $4 bucks for one skein. If you know of anything please let me know thanks guys!

I believe that the Salvation Army, Goodwill, Mission Thrift Store and the clearance bins are really good sources to try as well. I would also look to see if there are any knitting circles in your area that might be interested in donating. One more suggestion would be to go to a local radio station who often do public service announcements or even the t.v. stations. They might do a story and have a donation barrel at their station. When our local mission opened their new facility, there was an elderly lady that made quilts for all the beds. They did a story on the local t.v. station and many people dropped off fabric for her to use. Plus, tell all your friends and neighbors because if they don't have any yarn they might mention it to someone they know that has some extra yarn or would be willing to donate a little money for you to purchase some. You have a wonderful heart and are truly inspiring to me. In this day and age when I get so jaded because of all the crime and apathetic people in the world, you have given me a huge burst of hope. Bless you. One more suggestion. If you have a website or blog and a paypal account, you could tell people what you are doing and put a donation button on it.

I would put up something on local bulletin boards to ask if anyone has left over yarn sitting around that you can take off their hands.

Hello, Well I have a few ideas to give ya. If you go to yahoo they have a group called freecycle and there they have it where people can offer items to others for free or you can even request some items. If you have a goodwill store that would be a good place to start. Another one you could look into is Salvation Army, I use to work in one and we would get yarn a lot so we would put so much yarn in a bag a price it for a very low price. There is ebay alos which might have many deals on yarn. I have to say that what you are doing is a great kind thing. Happy Mylotting
