apple earphones

Why is that when you buy an ipod, that the earphones/headphones never last. They quickly break, i mean you would of thought how big apple is that there earphones would last and be the best. When they do break, why is it that they are so expensive to buy in shops. Why is that when you buy other earphones they break easily? I've had like 10 earphones in about 3 months.Is apple earphones the best? Do you agree? How many earphones have you had for your mp3 in the last couple of months? Has the number of earphones been ridiculous? Which earphones brand been the best?
