There are times it's hard to find what I am looking for or what brand. I find it hard to find time to go grocery shopping. I usually plan a menu and then write my list according to what I need. That has seemed to help. I hate grocery shopping though. SO for me it's hard because I don't want to d it.

It's not hard if the money will not come from their own pocket lol. Nowadays people are complaining much of having a hard time on grocery shopping and confused of what to buy because the goods that we usually bought becomes a little bit expensive time to time and it is very hard for shoppers to find a substitute for that certain goods, It's really hard cause you want to buy goods but they are expensive, some are less expensive and affordable but really can't eat them sometimes, or let's just say the quality is not that good and you are not sure if the product is safe or not.

Well for me doing grocery is fun. I always bring my son with me to grocery and it is also a bonding time for us. I think the hardest part is the transferring of your groceries in your car for you need to carry the bags one by one. Worst if you don't have car and you will need to wait for a taxi cab.
I think what is hard for your sister is, she doesn't know what to buy for she was not the one who will cook. Better give her list of items to buy so that it won't be harder for her to decide.

the only thing about food shopping that is hard for me is to resist buy unneccersery food. trying to keep the price down, and buy healthy food and not filling the cart with convienance and snack food.
the menu is a good idea, that way she'l keep to only the food you need.

I don't find grocery shopping all that difficult, although i guess for some people it is hard to think of what to buy and what to make. You don't want the same things all the time.

Actually considering how much the price of food has gone up, due to gas going up because some are taking production of food products out and changed it to ethanol, etc. this means that there is less food being grown. Also we are supposed to be in a recession and in some nations, it is not just a recession it is a nation. Food is going up and yet the junk food because that has so much preservatives in it, does not cost as much.
So your sister is very concerned. She wants you and her and the rest of the family to eat healthy, but she feels she is losing the battle. And if there is just two of you, she wants to make sure that she does not waste anything because that would mean throwing money away.

Tell her what you like and then discuss with her what she likes and then let her do the shopping accordingly. I don't think it should be a major problem to decide what groceries everyone wants. Let her walk with a list so she would not forget anything and try not to argue after that.

I must admit grocery shopping has me all confused. It's different when I am shopping with my mom and she does most of the deciding. When it's just me, I think I spend a good amount of my time just going around looking confused. I'm always fickle, so I take a long time deciding what brand or size of item I need. Even when it comes to just buying ingredients and chips for salsa, I get pretty confused deciding. I'm always texting my mom or my sister to confirm. I think having a list, just like what your sister wants is really helpful, though I think it should be very specific for me. A general list would still confuse me LOL!

It becomes hard when you purchase many things and you have no companion to carry those items which you recently purchases. Though, you really need a companion to help . While in term of pricing items being sold in the open market are really fix in terms of pricing compare to buying in open markets. While if you buy in the open markets you could buy all the item you need with a discount price. Just do not mind the ambience as public markets tend to be noisy, crowded too..But, if you are interested and you could buy even at a low price, It would still be advisable and could be uses as a source of living.

Hi Lisa
Basically, if it's a vegetarian grocery list, it should include cereals, grains, pulses, fresh vegetables, oils and sauces, and dairy products like cheese. Consider soy which has 40% more protein than meat. And don't forget the green tea. There is some controversy over soy, but in Japan people swear by it and soy is a big part of their life. They eat it in different forms.
My Japanese friends say that many people escaped the horrors of the atomic bomb because they were hiding in a soy factory. And cattle feeding on soy escaped unharmed -- which means it even protects one against radiation!
And oh yes, there's plenty of evidence regarding the dangers of onion and garlic which destroy red blood cells and can cause severe anemia in vegetarians. People who eat meat are ok with onion and garlic because they are ingesting blood anyway, but veggies, beware! According to the Taoists these two vegetables harm the internal organs.
I hope you are vegetarian! we owe it to the world. New research shows that it's the most eco-friendly thing we can do today. And we really need to act fast.

I like going to groceries it's my way of releasing stress. I never have difficulties when I'm in the grocery only when it's time to pay because the line is usually long. Planning your meals and making a list to buy always helps so that you already know what to buy. It saves time and energy.

For me, grocery shopping is one of the easiest tasks i perform throughout the week. It only becomes difficult for me when I have to bring my teenage children along.

As you have said above, there are some detailed tasks between you and your sister. It is really interesting.
But in my eyes, people should treat shopping as an interesting thing to do if they don’t want to get tired of do grocery shopping. If you just regard it as a task, you tend to be tired of doing that. You see, before doing shopping, I often make a goods list then I can buy them relaxedly.
Happy myLotting!

I make a list of what I plan on cooking for the week and also look in the papers to see what is on sale. I shop at Walmart because it is cheaper. I like grocery shopping and I always bring my husband along. He takes out the calculator to make sure that we are not over spending. I set a budget and stick to it. The last two weeks I have been lucky because I have been way under budget. I am actually proud of myself.
I think the menu is a great idea. It will help you save money and your sister will not be buying items that are will not be using. Try going to frugel.com and cooks.com to find recipes. I do this all the time and believe me since I discovered these sites I have been saving an aweful lot of money.
