I have heard that odesk pay for your work but is it true that the employer keep an eye on the worker and take images to keep track of their work hours..anybody has any information regarding this.

I do a lot of work with oDesk. It does take periodic screenshots of your computer while you work, if you are doing an hourly job. It is for your protection, in case an employer attempts to dispute the number of hours you work. If you choose fixed price jobs, it does not take screenshots, but you also have no protection if you don't get paid. I love oDesk and have made a great deal of money from working there. It is a legit site and easy to use once you get familiar with the site. In my profile link I have a blog which talks about oDesk, tips and tricks for getting hired, etc. You have to look in the post archives to read about it. It's a great site.

You are correct, there is no guarantee of payment for fixed price jobs, only hourly. Never accept a fixed price job from someone who does not have their payment method verified by oDesk. If I take a fixed price job I will usually do a small amount of work and then email the buyer. If they maintain contact with you then you are usually pretty safe to keep working. If they don't answer my emails after a couple of days, I send another email letting them know that I will not continue working until I hear from them. If I don't hear from them, I end the job. That keeps me from getting scammed. Honestly, though, I am not having a lot of trouble with that and I am making pretty good money.

Yes, to do hourly work you have to install Odesk on your computer. it takes 6 random shots an hour of your desktop to show your work.
you are informed by a pop up when the shot is being taken and you can always delete it if you want. But then you have no proof you were actually working and it can be disputed.
This is like and actual job. if they are paying you an hourly wage- they expect you to be working and so there must be proof.

I have joined.. They pay you for your job. what ever work you have completed in the week you get paid at the end of the week. There is no minimum payout.
You either get paid hourly for the hours you worked to complete the job or you get paid PER job (some have set or fixed rates).

honestly speaking, I have no idea of that site and this is the first time I am hearing about it. I do not understand why the employer keep an eye on his employees and take images to keep track of their work hours. If we feel like posting discussions we do it, otherwise, we will mind other work which we think is our priority.

i'm a member of odesk, although i'm not active. there are some employers who requires their employee to have a webcam so they can see them while they were working. but those are rare cases.
