Welcome to myLot, anandan.Wishing you all the best in myLot, and happy mylotting.
Your first discussion is a good one. The only problem is controlling our ego.Yes it is easy to say that there will be mental peace if we control our ego, but in reality it is quite hard. Same thing goes for desires also, a person who has a cycle, desires a motor bike, and a person who has a motor bike desires a car, and it goes on. It is the cycle of life. Even if a person has got no ego or desires, people who are close to him, make him feel uncomfortable, and kindle his ego, and desires.

Hello and welcome to myLot. Congratulations on your first post. I'm sure you will spend many happy hours here.
Ego and pride go hand in hand.
Pride and arrogance go hand in hand.
Arrogance and frustration go hand in hand.
Frustration and mental peace do NOT go hand in hand - -
So, I agree with you.
Someone who is wrapped up in himself makes a very small bundle and will not mix well with his peers. He will not be happy and most likely he will not be liked.

Somehow there is truth in here. The simpler and more humble the person, the more possible it is for him to attain satisfaction and contentment in life. However, I guess controlling one's ego isn't enough to attain inner peace.
