Well you can't unwrap it Xmas day, well unless you had it done before Xmas and then you take the bandage off that they put on, I wouldn't ever ask for or have a tattoo, I do think it's a bit odd, but some people don't ask for anything at all, which is even odder.

I just thought it was odd I guess because these girls were in the eighth grade and their parents let them get the tatoos for Christmas. Kids that age don't know what they want tomorrow, let alone for the rest of their lives.

I do think it's a bit of an odd thing to ask for for Christmas, but I think if I did want one I might ask for one for Christmas, but I'm a big scaredy fish and therefore not likely to even want one in the first place. :)

I don't think it is odd. I wouldn't ask for it for as present from my parents though. I doubt they would fund such a venture. I did tell my fiance that is what he could get me for Christmas this year if I didn't get one before then.

When they are adults they should be able to decide whether they wanna tatoo. Not when you are a kid, and it just a whim.

Today is so differnet I am 32 I have to sons 15 and 13 and after hearing some of the stuff my kids tell me about school I would not say it is not odd. But I would just say NO until he is 18 it is permant unlike a earring or something that can be removed I would say know to the earring too.LOL

Yes, things are definitely different. Parents are trying to be their kids friends and are afraid to parent them and tell them no.

Yes i would, infact i should be getting one :) but then i am 26 and not a kid :) My 4 year old did ask for a tattoo kit for his birthday (draw on tattoos but never the less still kinda funny. I dont really think it is odd in this day and age for kids to ask for that kind of thing tattoos arent really classed as taboo now and with shows like Miami Ink and whatnot its getting vastly popular to have 1 or 2 or 3 lol

Maybe I'm odd. I wouldn't allow my 13 year old to get one. I don't care what kind of shows they watch, they don't know what they want for their rest of their lives.

I personally wouldn't ask for one because I don't like them. I would think it odd of some children. We don't have the same grade system in England so I don't know how old 8th grade kids would be. I think some kids maybe 13+ might ask but a child under that age, I would think it very unreasonable of a child below that age and I would also think it quite irresponsible of ay parent to condone such a thing. I would never have asked my parents even if I wanted one, but then, my parents didn't even want me to have my ears pierced!
