I'm back home but still in pain..

Instead of responding to every post in my friend's discussion that she started about me, I decided to just start a new discussion and say everything once. I'm doing ok but not ok. Have some health issues that should of been taken care of over a year ago but the quack doctors seem to find something wrong with me every time. I have 5 uterine fibroids that are becoming increasingly difficult to deal with. What was supposed to be a simple surgery 1 1/2 yrs. ago is now going to be a hysterectomy by the end of Nov. The biggest fibroid is just over the size of a softball or large grapefruit while the smallest is the size of a golfball. Every month, the cramping is worse and yesterday was no exception. Pain woke me out of a deep sleep and I couldn't even move. Went to ER but they sent me on my way knowing I had a drs. appointment that morning. At the doctor's (a new one this time), she flat out told me I'm having this surgery before the month is over. If I don't get it, I will eventually bleed to death in the future being I'm now bleeding every day instead of just a few days like a normal period and it's alot of blood loss. She has me on presription iron as well. I've never ever had a UTI either but now it seems to set up camp in me since these friggin' fibroids are getting worse. On top of this, I now have diabetes along with high BP and cholesterol so my diet has gone through a tailspin trying to control it all as well. Once this surgery is over and done with, I'll be able to control my other issues better being the stress I'm under right now is unbearable. Thanks a million bunches for posting here yesterday on my behalf, Pyewacket. When I sent that email out, I knew you would post over at FB but totally forgot about here being I'm not very active here like I used to be. HUGE HUGS to you!!!!

Thanks gabs! I worry more about you than me, though. What I'm suffering will be gone after the surgery. What your going through is something you have to live with.

I am so sorry you are having health problems. I can tell you about 30 yrs. ago I had horrible fibroids to the point I couldn't sit down. I had a complete hysterectomy and have never looked back. Felt 100% better in a few weeks. Hopefully you will feel much better after surgery. Might help to focus on one thing at a time. Have the surgery, recover, begin to exercise to get your Diabetes under control and watch your diet to control cholesterol. Should all fall into place but will take time. Know you are feeling overwhelmed and don't blame you. Am thinking about you and hope you feel better soon. Have a good weekend and keep your chin up, carolbee

I had complications after the surgery but that's because I developed pneumonia. The surgery shouldn't be a big one but you should feel soooooo much better. You heard it from one who went through this. I felt like a different person.

Carol..with my other 2 surgeries..one being ruptured disk and other gall bladder removal..both times I felt like a new woman after the surgery. This is why I'm so looking forward to it. I know the pain will be gone along with the bleeding. No more worries till something else in my body breaks down.

Hiya carolbee.. I can still sit down but when the cramps are at it full steam, I can't ride in a car or barely walk cause every slight bump would shoot pain everywhere. It's finally let up but who knows for how long. The next pain I'm hoping is the healing pain after the surgery. Thanks a bunch!

I'm sorry you are so sick, but I'm glad you are going to get these dealt with, and sooner rather than later. My roomie bled the entire month of Sept and is also on prescription iron. She has a benign polyp, she's getting it dealt with tomorrow.

Thanks Elic! I've always hated the monthly curse but having this problem is a nightmare I wouldn't wish on my worse enemy. Let her know I'm thinking about her and hope all goes well.

Thanks for updating all of us about your health condition. Though I know that you have gone through a lot, I really hope you get back on track and be full of health. Just take care of your medication time as well as the types of food. Drink lots of plain water and take slow strolls a few times a week. Consult your doctor for which exercise you can and cannot do. Iron is good, I heard that too before. Take care yeah and full health to you always..

Thanks, zed! I have several paper routes that keep me walking alot every day so that's my main form of exercise. I also do alot of gardening and hiking which also helps.

I had a total hysterectomy due to fibroids and they found endometriosis when they went in which made the surgery take a lot more. My recovery was fantastic, and I have never regretted it. I hope that the surgery leaves you pain free and in control of all the other problems. The UTI's are probably going to get better first, as you will not be so crowded in the area any more.

Hiya GardenGerty! My mom had the same done about 20yrs. ago and she recovered nicely. Only concern was my dog who kept insisting on cuddling with her being he knew she wasn't well. I know this surgery will be my ticket back to decent health and really looking forward to it. Imagine, I will be able to sleep throughout the night again instead of in blocks. I can go back to using reg. pads...wait a min. here......I won't have any use for them anymore...yaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa!!!! lol

Now I think you'll understand that feeling my great-grandmother who was a nurse in that doctors are IDIOTS...Why the hell they didn't do a simple surgery procedure over a year ago I'll never know and instead put you through all this crap...nuts too bad you can't sue the doctors that handled your "case" then for misdiagnosis or whatever since they put you at a serious risk and were negligent. My prayers and thoughts are still with you and sorry to hear on top of everything you have diabetes as well. Take care of yourself or I'll sic Pyewacket on ya...LOL

I had a hysterectomy back in '03 and I don't miss those parts of me not one bit!! No more pain, no more pain, no more pain!! Not to mention, no more periods, no more periods, no more periods!! LOL Having the surgery and getting well, was a bit of work but I would never ever go back and neither will you! You may get depressed after wards but keep your chin up and remember, it's not forever. You'll soon be back on your feet before you know it! Hugs to you my friend!

Hi blackbriar, I am so so sorry you are going through such a terrible time with this pain, my thoughts and prayers are sent to you. You should have had the operation a while back, don't know what these doctors are thinking of. I hope all goes well for you. Hugs. Tamara

Thanks tamara! My doctor is mighty tired of hearing me tell him off about this so I'm sure he wants this surgery over and done with so he can get rid of me.lol The pain finally eased up but I know it will be back again next month IF I don't have this surgery. Still hate the constant bleeding, though.

Hey Blackbriar~ Just glad to hear that your ok for now and hanging in there too. My girlfriend had similar issues with fibroids and had a hysterectomy and is fine now and you will be too! Just keep praying and try to keep it together and once they get those miserable fibroids out of you you will feel so much better as she did! There will be no more pain, excessive bleeding and the other issues will be alot easier to control! I worked for a gynocolgist so I can tell you I know what I'm talking about! And if you think that your fibroids are big, believe me some are even bigger and you are lucky! Compared to what I'e seen and heard your's are "normal" in comparison! So please just do what the doctor is telling you and get the surgery asap and you will be so much better afterwards! My prayers are with you! Hugs, Opal

Thanks for the prayers, Opal. I know all my other issues pretty much center around these miserable fibroids. The biggest one can actually be seen as a lump on my stomach and if you put your hand on it, can feel it also. She said that one has been there growing since around the time my daughter was born which was 11yrs. ago. They could all be bigger than that now being I haven't had another ultrasound yet but they did do a cat scan on them. The ER doctor actually hissed out DAMN! when he felt the one and his eyes were full of concern. Course, promising him a black eye if he tried touching it again might of brought the word out as well. lol It HURT, dammit! I just want these things outta me so I can go back to leading a normal life again. So much I haven't been able to do cause of them. One is something super simple like washing my feet in the shower. I can't bend over without pain!
