I know two ways to stop hiccup. One is a little funny and I will say that one later on in the discussion. The other one is filling 3/4 cup with water and instead of placing your upper lip on the lower part of the cup mouth, place your lower lip on the upper side of the cup mouth. Since is difficult to do it make a brisk movement
bending your body while holding the cup or glass on your mouth and briskly try to let the water fall in your mouth. Do it three times and the hiccup is gone.

Hello Seastar and welcome to my lot. Yes the best way to stop the hiccups is a teaspoon of sugar. When you take the sugar let it dissolve in your mouth and it will make the hiccups go right away. Almost as quick as the sugar melts in your mouth. I have use this for years and it always works. Good luck and hope you have a great day!

That is great to know! I've never heard of this one either. A teaspoon of sugar doesn't sound very good to me but I know my kids would love this one that's for sure! lol.

Wow, that's the first I've heard of that one, lol. Have you personally tried that one before? Sounds a little complicated but anything to make hiccups go away, I would definitely try it. The only thing that has ever worked for me is the one you always hear about, hold your breath and count to,... well I'm not sure how long exactly it is but I usually count to 10 in my head without taking any breaths. I usually do it about two times and it works for me.

Yes, the one with glass of water opposite way works. When I was very young I visited a friend and her dad had a hiccup for two or three days already and he was feeling very bad. I told her to do the glass thing and the man did it and behold
the hiccup stopped. They were so grateful.

Actually the sugar don't taste bad. I don't know if you can use sugar with those other substitutes you know like sweet and low, but I do know the sugar works I have used that one for many years. I have tried all different kinds of things that was supposed to try and get rid of the hiccups but nothing ever worked but this sugar.
