Yes it's that time of the year where everyone is like
"have you done your shopping yet?" or "where you going for the holidays?" or "what present should I get?" AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAARRRRRRRRRRRGGGGGGGGGGGGGG!!
I used to think valentines day was bad but christmas is even worse. Every year it just seems to be getting worse with this sudden craze of shopping and holidays. I mean isn't Christmas all about celebrating Jesus' birthday? But noooo.. it's all bloody discounts and santas clause rooming all over the place and you being forced to see people who you avoid to see the whole year
I really do agree that christmas is the most depressing time of the year and I really don't want to know what you doing (or who you're doing, where u shopping and I don't want to see the color RED!
I know most of you have happy families (or you pretend to be happy families at this time of the year) so this may sound odd but I've NEVER had a happy family and I never look forward to Christmas as it just reminds me that they are people more happier than me which is soo depressing...
Anyway I could go on and on but tell me do you really look forward to Christmas these days??

I too am not really looking forward to Christmas. It used to be a happy time for me, but now it is just a reminder of how sad I really am. Don't get me wrong, I do have a family, and I try to be happy for them, but there are a lot of complications which make it really sad for me. I live one day at a time and I am just hoping that I could get through this Christmas season.

To be honest, I actually do like Christmas. Oh, believe me, my family is far from perfect but I do enjoy the holiday For one thing, it is one of the only times of the year (Except for Easter and Thanksgiving) when I see my uncle and three cousins, who live five hours away. I LOVE my cousins, and I love seeing them, so I look forward to Christmas. There are always family squabbles, but its so nice to be around the table enjoying Christmas dinner with my cousins, it is like nonstop comedy hour because they are so witty. I look forward to Christmas all year.
The months I really hate are the endless winter months AFTER Christmas- January and February, and yes, I hate Valentine's Day. But Christmas is ok.
BTW, if you want to avoid those crowded stores and commercialism and all the stress of shopping, do what I do. Buy all your Christmas presents online. I buy people books, cds and movies on Amazon, and do my shopping in one day. I can even have the stuff gift wrapped. It really takes away the stress.

Jellymonty-
I do get a tad anxious when I see decorations in the store before Halloween, and hear Christmas music being played. It seems to change though after the holiday when I am closer to the Yule. Currently I have my decorations up for the Day of Mourning (Thanksgiving), and won't start putting up my Yule things until around the 1st of December.
We did all of our Yule shopping already save a few small things, so I won't be rushing around this season. I've decided to try to take in all of the fun things being offered in our community, and enjoying the comforts of a well stocked pantry this year.
I think it is honestly a concious decision we can make to decide if we shall let something bother us or not. Though, with the increase in artificial lighting, I wonder if SAD (Seasonal Affective Disorder) is a response to not allowing the pineal gland to produce Melatonin as it is meant to do. Perhaps what we need during the winters, as we once had before electricity, is more sleep, more dark, and a chance for our bodies to regenerate just as other living things do during the winter periods.
Be blessed. Namaste-
Anora

Hi,
You know what my friend, how hard he tries or pretends to look happy he still is as lonely as anyone deep down inside.
It must be depressing when you cannot cherish the moments with some one close to you, but have you ever considered to do something unusual during the holidays, maybe go somewhere where Christmas isn't that popular, or maybe spending the time with children whom you are not even remotely related. Better if you just pamper yourself and indulge yourself into something which you always wanted to do when you were a child but just couldn't do because of one reason or the other.
Just a few suggestions.

I know that we had face many problems, struggles and consequence in our life this year. But we should not forget the spirit of Christmas its not about us,its not about for children , for gifts for the young at heart but we are celebrating the birth of Jesus Christ.

The crazy shopping days are getting worse and worse every year. I dont know how people just go nuts over getting their shopping done as soon as they can. I am always firmly believing that if we all take our time we will be much more calm and there will be less trample incidents. But now, there are more people, more products and less stock of products. All of these equal out to madness....especially with all of the implusive behavior which has been going on lately. Good luck with your christmas shopping!!
