You have downloaded a firefox which is a hoax firefox. delete your firefox and download a new version, 3.5.4 thats the latest. and get your firefox from a reputed site, should be from firefox.com website.

Its a Firefox which is not entirely firefox, i experienced this from my sister in law computer, what we did was downloaded Opera and from Opera we downloaded the Firefox Browser. The Latest Firefox update as for now is 3.5.5

Mozilla.com ---- download your New Firefox her, be sure to remove Firefox in your control panel before you download New Firefox 3.5.5 from Mozilla.com And also be sure that you still have another browsers available for downloading Firefox3.5.5 before you delete your old Firefox.

I am also facing the same problem but I think the problem is due to the huge number of plugins I am using. But I am pretty sure that JVM is also contributing to this as when I open web pages that are rich in JAVA, the browser hangs for a while.

but i'm not using any plugins...
so i think its not the problem with plugins
and i had a doubt regarding a thing
can you clarify ?
does every browser uses a seperate jvm or they all use a single jvm ?

No, every browser uses the same JVM but in a different way. Every browser handles JVM in their own way.

I had a similar problem too.. It was when I updated my firefox version.. I had to reinstall firefox then.. I think there may be some bugs in the latest version...
