I use a crystal type litter. It’s great and it can last up to a month before you need to change it if only one cat is using it. It quite odour free and all you need to do is scoop out the poo and just leave it until it’s time to change it. The only downfall is that it is a little expensive compared to other litters. In our house the litter box the 2 cats share during the day is changed every two weeks and the one my female cat uses only for herself at night is fine for four weeks or so. I can’t give you brands because I live in Australia and I buy a home brand one from Coles which is a store that may not be where you live.

I am not sure which brands are on sale where you are. I have used various litters and found that the best one was a wood pellet one. The cats don't kick it around as much and it eliminates all odours. It clumps together well and is really easy to clean. If you can find a wood pellet one then I think you will find this best. I also use a litter tray which has a housing over it. The cat enters through a cat flat and the whole thing is enclosed. There is a filter on the top which makes sure no odours escape.

I use Scoop Away, and it works well at controlling odors. I've tried lesser expensive scoopable brands, but they don't work as well. I've also tried the ones with the odor activating crystals, but my cats didn't like it.
