During my childhood days, my parents always advising us not to depend on others. To do our task on our own. They always reminds us to be independent. Especially in doing some chores like the washing and ironing of clothes. Since this is for our personal hygiene.
As the days goes by, when I started my job, its quite difficult to do this task. The washing as well as the ironing of clothes. Sometimes, I am thinking why there is a need to iron the clothes after you have washed it. Thus, if you wear the clothes once again after it has been washed, there are some become crease or wrinkled on the cloth hence, the time you spend in ironing is somehow wasted.
Aside from that, if you are doing the ironing, you must not wash your hand or try to avoid wetting your hands since the moisture of the iron is so hot, or else your hands will be unstable due to malfunctioning of the nerves. Unlike if you are doing the washing, you can still do others as, if you like to wash your hand, it will just be alright.
How about you, do you prefer to wash and iron clothes or only one of this task you will choose?

Hi sheila, my mom did advise us to do our daily personal task since childhood. So we had to learn how to cope with these daily routine then. All the kids in the house were trained to tidy the bed, like folding blanket, arranging the bed to look decent, sweeping floor etc after getting up in the morning. We were responsible to wash our respective tableware before and after every meal
I didn’t have any complain either washing or ironing clothes. I always felt happy to deal with either of them. My two brothers and sister were not good in ironing. They preferred washing more than washing. Therefore I always helped them to do the ironing in case they were really busy in their study. after having practice every now and then I’m quite good in ironing.
Nowadays we have the washing machine to do the tedious laundry. The new and advanced electrical iron is very much lighter and more convenient than the old tradition iron made from copper. It is heavy and bulky. What’s even worse, we have to take time as well as the trouble to prepare the burning charcoals before ironing. Yeah, we need the burning charcoals to heat the metal iron. We usually make the hot iron to move on a piece of banana leaf to make the bottom part of it smooth, so that it could move fluently on the clothes. This makes the task of ironing easier
Take care and happy posting!

i hate ironing so i would much prefer the washing part. washing is easy. you put the clothes in and the detergent and you walk away until they are done. it is the folding and getting them out of the dryer before they wrinkle that is challenging for me.

My parents raised me in the same way but like you, when I started to be on my own, I didnt really see a point in ironing house clothes or clothes that I would only wear at home.
I do my laundry in an automatic washer so that essentially takes care of the whole cycle. I only need to get my stuff out of the washer and it's done. I don't mind ironing because I only iron the stuff that I wear when I go out.
I'd probably pick the washing though because all I have to do is dump the clothes in the machine with detergent and softener and wait.

I prefer to wash clothes than ironing.Ironing, I find it boring and my back hurts. But, since I stay alone, I have to do both the chores because there is nobody else to help me around with.I wear clean, washed and ironed clothes everyday when I go to work, so it is obvious I have to wash my clothes and iron it everyday though I hate it

Ironing clothes is less enjoyable than washing clothes. My back hurts whenever I do the ironing and I feel like I'm taking it forever before I finish it. Although I dislike that chore, I still have to do it especially I'm planning to live on my own in the near future. And for me, that is a great practice.

I prefer to wash the clothes than to do the ironing because I'm not good on it and I had a hard time to iron the wrinkles. My youngest sister is the one assigned to iron our clothes because it is not my line. I'm good in washing the clothes than ironing lke our mother said we should be the one doing the household chores we shouldn't rely to anyone or the her because she getting older and she can't bear to do it all by herself.

I do the washing of all the clothes in our house. I usually put the clothes in the dryer on permanent press and take them out as soon as the dryer stops. I have not had to iron any clothes in years by doing this because I do hate to iron. The clothes are put up right after they are taken out of the dryer not laying in a basket in a pile because that would defeat the purpose of dryer on permanent press.

Hi there, you made me smile. Actually i find the two tasks very annoying. I have no preference of one over the other. But lets face it, we have to do them at any one time because it's true that we need to know to do things on our own. thanks.

Hi..i prefer to wash my clothes and also iron those myself. Some of my dresses have embroidery works done on them,so i am not sure if the person who washes it takes care not to brush on those work. Not just that, all my cotton dresses have to be rinsed and washed separately and later it is important to starch cotton clothes.I like cotton clothes to be stiff. And more than all this i get a sense of satisfaction and joy when i do my own work.

I would rather do 10 loads of wash before I had to iron anything. I have never like to iron. I can remember my grandmother ironiong handkerchiefs for my grandfather. It looked like so much work. Maybe that's why I frown on ironing. I have a sister-in-law who is just the opposite about ironing. She irons every bit of her laundry. She loves to iron her clothes. Not me!

If I have some chances to make a choice between wash and iron, it is obvious that I prefer to wash the clothes other than ironing it.
In my eyes, washing clothes is a simple work while it is really a difficult task for me to iron the clothes. If there are not so unnoticeable crease or wrinkled on the cloth, I won't iron it, only when I can do nothing but to iron, I will iron it carefully.
Sometimes, ironing clothes may make the situation get worse. So, usually, I won't iron it with apparent ease.

I remember growing up all of the ironing that I did. I don't like ironing and for that reason I will not by anything made of 100% cotton because of the ironing factor. I would prefer washing clothes to ironing clothes any day.

I don't mind doing the laundry. Throw it into the washer, add detergent, take it out and put in dryer. Done. Leave it in the dryer until you need it. I don't believe in ironing. Take it out of the dryer early enough and there will not be wrinkles. I know that I have not used an iron since the early 80's. Maybe that means that I am lazy or wear the right kind of clothes.
