This is interesting. I was reading Yahoo News and I chanced upon this. Here's the link, just in case you guys wanna read it:
http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20091106/ap_on_fe_st/as_odd_skorea_aspiring_driver;_ylt=AmV_i1arKmtmCglCANOM6iR0fNdF
I really admire her courage. Although sitting for an exam which one consistently fails for 950th times is not an easy feat, think about this. Despite everything, she didn't give up. Not once. And now, she has to go through the next hurdle of sitting for a driving test. I hope she gets her license soon, really.
How many times would you say 'I Give Up!'.. and how many times did you take your driving exam and then driving test before you obtain that license? Do share; thanks and have a nice day, everyone.

This is what you call persistence and determination--- a positive attitude towards reaching one's goal. Finally she made it!

That the attitude--- persistent and determined to reach her goal. Now she finally made it. I am happy for her. People need to work hard if they want to succeed and if they want to make their dreams come true.

Wow! I would never give up either, but fortunately I have always passed my test on the first try. Maybe the written test is harder in Korea. This year I expected to have to take the written which includes a vision exam, too, but they surprised me and extended my license another 4 years. I think that someone who has driven for 20 or 30 years without ever getting into an accident or getting a ticket should get automatic extensions. Apparently my government agrees with me, lol.
When I was a 17-year old girl living out in the country, I failed my first driving test though. When I went home crying my neighbor told me the mean man in my town failed EVERY woman who ever took the test because he hated women and did not think we should be allowed to drive. She told me the same thing happened to her and to go to the neighboring town. I did and passed right away. I wish I had asked her first, but my dad took me to that mean guy and then I had to wait another 30 days. Grrrr. When you are 17 and have to walk to work (or beg somebody for a ride) 30 days is a long time to wait.

Wow... if it were me, I'd find it very long too...30 days? I'll die! LOL......kidding. But I can sense that you are a very fast learner, definitely..
If for my country's policy, one just have to pass the written exam, if he/she holds a license in their country.

Wow! That's one determined woman! Kudos to her!
Though, I wonder if it's a good thing to potentially have a driver on the road who failed that many times...Well, maybe she's learned enough about it now, since she passed the exam.
I think I'd probably try 5 times consecutively, then take a break for awhile.

Wow, that's unbelievable. I have taken the exam to get my driver's license only once. Maybe their driver's exam test is so difficult. At least, she finally made it.

Wow, she took it that many times..? How was she able to count them all accurately? Or maybe that was just an estimate, or perhaps the driving school has kept records of each and every time that she did take the test.LOL
Those must've been a lot of papers. But, it does make me wonder... do those test questions change every year, or every time you take one? Cause if it was the same questions with the same answers, it's kinda confusing how she didn't get the answers after a few tries..?
Hmm, seemed to have asked lots of questions again. I don't know how to drive yet you see, and I was planning on enrolling in driving school next summer. I have tried driving my uncle's car in their yard(with his permission of course, and under the supervision of my cousin.LOL) but the engine keeps dying on me.
I do hope that I pass those tests, as well as learning to drive, when I do decide to take finally take them.

I;m not sure if I will believe this. 950? I failed once in a driving exam but I made it in the second try. Maybe my limit is only 3-4 if ever I can't pass but that 950? I could not believe she has the patience to deal with it. It is not that hard to make it to even 50 times is too much.

Hi Zed I'm sorry I missed this, still better late than never. You won't like my response though, I'd say keep her well away from me on the roads, I wouldn't trust anyone behind a wheel who took that many times to pass. It would have cost her less to hire a chauffeur. You're the noble sort who'll say well done for not giving up, I feel more sorry for her driving instructor.
Oh yes, a question, I passed the second time but the fact that I got into the wrong car the first time kind of did for me the first time.

LOL.................
Aite, you know me well. Actually, Thea she sat for the written exams and took it for 950 times. And now she would have to go through the real driving test on the road. Like you said, I would be nervous too, if I were her driving instructor. But who knows, she might ace on the practical and passes at the first take only!

WOW! That is a crazy amount of times! I do not know if I can believe that she actually sat the test that many times!
I would probably give up after about ten tries, but I really cannot say for sure unless I was in her shoes!
I passed my written exam on the first go, but failed the practical exam the same day. I drove half way around the course with the instructors coke bottle on the roof before it fell off, so I was going pretty good until near the end. Then I had to move over to the left to give some room to a turning truck and there was a piece of concrete sitting in the side of the road that I did not see, so the instructor had to grab the wheel and I failed!
Just one of those freaky things that happen. I went back the next week and passed the driving test easily second time around!
I failed my motor bike test the first time too as I lost too many points. I tried it the following week on a different type of bike and passed it easily. The first bike was not as easy to handle!

Quote: 'I drove half way around the course with the instructors coke bottle on the roof before it fell off...' - that's really hilarious!!
You are a 2nd chance type of guy, huh... just kidding. But you were lucky enough to pass it on the 2nd time for both car and bike. Amazing, Bill..
Thanks for sharing your story here. It's a delight, truly..ha..

*Trying not to laugh*... *Trying not to think of stereotypes*...
Okay, 950 TIMES! I passed after the second time! She must be one really bad driver or she must have some kind of problem. How can you fail a driving exam that many times? I admire her as well for constantly attempting to get her licence, but still... 950 times...

WE CAN only hope it takes her that many times to pass her road test. Anyone who takes that many tires to pass probably should not be driving. It is not that difficult and there must be a reason it took her that long to pass it.

Wow! 950 times!! I would have given up on the 3rd time itself! It is sure encouraging for all of us. I wonder what she might have thought each time she failed and the each time she went to apply again. I do admire her courage. Well here in our country, its pretty easy to get through the written exam, as you just have to pass 16 questions out of 20. Then we must go through the driving test, which was challenging, but I got through them in the first attempt and I do thank God for that, as doing all of that all over again? well I donno!!

I admire her courage certainly as well. Here in my country, it's the same too; we have to sit for the written exams and have to pass it before going for the driving test. I couldn't imagine what if it were in my situation; would I go on or stop. I have gotten my license way back too and it just felt so surreal now, especially to read about someone trying her best to pass. I do hope she really passes for her upcoming test.

WOW!! That's amazing of her!! 950th times!! lol =D I think will give up by the 10th time at most!! lol =D Plus, i think they should be banning her for takin any more test or even driving.. Imagine when she cant even get the basics right, what's gonna happen when she hits the road on her own??
BUt i do really admire her courage and determination to pass the test though.. haha =D
