About several weeks ago, I upgraded the computer operating system from Windows XP to Windows 7. As we all know, Windows 7 is the latest version of Microsoft Windows OS, which is really a great computer OS.
However, today, when I meet some problems in my conputer, I find that my counputer the updates of software and OS has been closed. It is obvious that it is very important for me to keep the OS and other softwares updated for patching security holes and improving performance.
Coud you tell me what happen to my computer? Do you have some methods to keep he software and hardware up to date safely? By the way, can I use the Automatic Updates feature to install updates?

Your windows 7, is it a trial version, it is good for only 90 days. after that your computer will shutdown everyhour.

I believe it is a trial version, the best recourse is to format your HD or better yet buy the software. w/c is from 200 to 300 bucks.

it may be a pirated version
or the trial period might have expired

I am so sorry to hear that. In fact, it is not a trial & pirated version. Yes, my Windows OS is legal and I have never used the illegal softwares.
If it is an illegal one, Microsoft will forbid me to upgrade the softwares to the latest version and then I will have to face the threat from various security holes and spywares.
Anyway, thanks for your reply.

I have to say that my Windows OS is legal and I have never used the illegal softwares. Now, there are really some problems when I am trying to upgrade it to the latest versions, but I believe that it is just because the automatic update automatically is disabled for some unknown reasons.
Anyway, thanks for your reply!

The automatic update settings can be changed, as a previous poster has already explained.
I agree that it is worthwhile using automatic updates for such a new operating system because features are likely to change quite frequently. You can always go to the Windows Update website and select what you want, but allowing Windows to run this automatically is far easier.
You can set Windows Update to include other programs as well, which will update Microsoft Office and even offer hardware drivers at times.

Thanks for your answer. I guess I can use the Automatic Updates feature to install updates, but I find that I can't upgrade all softwares updates automaticly, could you give me some more detailed information about the update menu.
You see, until now, I haven't gotten familiar with the latest Windows 7 operating system, so I don't know the concrete steps of updates. Thank you very much.
