Part of my day to day existence is to deal and talk to different people but sometimes I can't help feeling turned off with a certain characteristics. Top of my list is BAD BREATH! Please...No matter how good looking or articulate a person is, this is a sure bubble blower to one's delight... do something about it... How about you? Don't tell me you have none.:-)

I am turned off by people who think it is impressive to use vulgar language. I just have to walk away, I can't stand it. Why do people have to do that? The sad part about this is, it is becoming the norm rather than the exception and this is what our young, impressive children are seeing and hearing. Please help me spread the word that the young need good examples not bad ones.

Bad breath is definitely a turn off. Another turn off for me is body odor. It amazes me that there are still so many people out there who don't seem to have heard of deoderant!

[b]Oh, my list is long....
At the very top are knee-jerk, anti-conservative bigots. At the bottom, perhaps, are things such as poor hygiene & bad breath, & I make allowances for people whose health or medication may be the root of bad smells.
In between are such things as people who won't tame their children, letting them behave like wild apes. NO-ONE over the age of 3 should chew with their mouth open, & no-one at all should be screaming their lungs out in a movie theater, or playing race track up & down the aisles! Or in a restaurant, for that matter. A pox on the Chucky Cheeses of the world, which teach children to create a ruckus when they are taken out to eat! Who thought this was a great idea, combining meals with mayhem?
Also, what brand of moron supervisor insists her charges keep going after you've repeatedly assured the caller, "I love your cause/product/service, but any check I sent you would bounce!"? I've had them tell me they "have to keep going," even knowing I'm not able. So after I've said no, I get to hear, "Well, I realize times are hard, Ms. C, but could you see your way clear to donate even $50 at this time?" Doesn't their super get that this worker could be using his or her costly time to try calling another person who might be able to donate???
Then there are those people who can't bring themselves to say goodbye on the phone, but run through their talking points again & again; do they think I'm an idiot, or what? I'm not speaking of sales folks, but co-workers, friends, & other people I know! It gets to the point that I have to be rude sometimes, & tell them I had to be someplace 5 minutes ago, interrupting their 4th run-through! (Usually the place I needed to be is the bathroom...)
Anyway, there are lots of things people do that are "deal breakers" for relationships (even transient ones such as phone calls), but I think dumb & annoying actions outweigh personal hygiene, at least in my book.

[b]Yeah, I used to say I was a "curmudgeon-in-training." Now that I'm a full-blown curmudgeon, I guess you could call me an old grouch!

Hello, Maggiepie. Thank you for sharing such lengthy and detailed comments.Sure thing we can find tons of things against a person. We can't please everybody,as the old saying goes, as it is difficult for everybody to please us as well.:-)

what turns me off are bad breathe and body odor.I would really appreciate talking to someone who doesn't have bad breathe.I also appreciate a person that doesn't smell sweaty.it says a lot about their personal hygiene,it says that they don't take care of themselves.

Hello,my_name_is_coco. Thanks for commenting. There is also a similar odor such as athelete's foot that sent me puking. There are other people who sweat but don't smell so bad... Good hygiene and proper diet are the factors that must be observe to attain that sweet natural scent.:-)

People who are overly obnoxious, or piggish when they speak. Especially at work, I hate it. I am not a prude, but it is very unprofessional.

Bad breath can be a cause of poor hygiene or an illness called halitosis... This can be remedied...

Yes, I agree bad body order and bad breath and people staring off into space or they roll there eyes at when you are speaking.
I tend to figit and that can get to people or my voice raise to high pitch which can be annoying because then I sound like a little kid.
The cell phone ringing I was a cashier at grocery store this always happend to people in my line and they stand there and talk while I tally up the grocery bill for them.
Another one is there attitude if they talk down too you like you are dumb or deaf and belittle you etc.
Lastly they fall asleep on you or yawn.
Very good topic
