What do you think of men who cry?

We often hear stories of boys being told to be a man and not cry.
But I prefer seeing men who can show their emotions once in a while and prove to us women that they are also human enough to feel vulnerable and shed some tears.
For the women out there, do you prefer to have your husband or boyfriend let you see him cry once in a while? Or would you rather he always show a strong front when he's with you no matter what?
For the men, can you admit that there are times you also cry? Why or why not?

hi writermom.. it is true that we don't like to cry around others but that doesn't mean we are strong, that isn't it.. we do suffer but just are more shy sharing those things with others coz we become a little conscious about it, we do cry but not let others know... well i guess i am sort of an emotional person so when ever something wrong happens my friends seem to know something is not alright but i share only if i feel it is appropriate to..

Thank you for sharing your thoughts. I understand what you mean. I am sometimes selective too on who should only see me get emotional. With my husband, it's no holds barred. But with other people, it will depend how close they are to me.
Still, it's nice to be able to share tears with people you really care about and who cares about you :)

I think it would be best for men to express their emotions by having a good cry. I think it would be healthier for them in the long run. Crying should not be seen as a sign of weakness it actually shows that you do have feelings and express them openly.

I admire men who are not ashamed and afraid to show their real feelings/emotions. That cry can be a tears of joy, pain, success and failure. Whatever it is at least he has another way of letting it out or ventilating it by crying. We all have the right to cry and it's okay to cry!

nobody would like to show others or express tat they are in fear of any situation and you really dont find men crying coz they are meant to be strong to face all the hurdles i am not saying anything wrong abt girls.as they led a family from upfront so men should be strong so tat their children would learn from him.nd there is a saying that never believe one should never believe crying men nd laughing women(who try to flirt).gud day.

I wonder how many boys have been told to "Be a man" and hide their feelings, and have become unfeeling because of it? How many have not known HOW to show love and affection to their wives and children because of it?
A man is not a man unless he is capable of great emotions, and sometimes emotions demand the physical outlet of tears.
A man shouldn't cry at every little thing - and neither should a woman, but we MUST be able to show our emotion when the occasion arises. Smothering emotion and not allowing it to surface will only cause tensions.

i have seen men cry in daily life or in tv shows.. however i think it is okay to cry to get rid of their stress or something in their mind.. every one knows crying helps a lot to get rid of the troubles you have or feel comfortable in a difficult situations.. there is no shame for the grown men to cry in the public.. i have heeard that even well trained US marines cry when their train in over..

LOL. I remember the times I cried. Well for me crying isn't bad, it only shows how you are honest to your feelings, like when you laugh out loud it only means that it really made you glad, happy, or funny. Just like crying it only shows how you are affected, and I don't consider it as a weak. When I cried I told my girl friend about that and she didn't showed any negative reactions, but she was happy because I told her about that. Crying is also a good way to release the heavy things that you are crying, like problems, this is same with punching the wall or shouting loudly when you are angry. Well, that's my opinion about crying. Happy mylotting!

Your problem is very interesting,I have to say that people often think only a woman would cry,but they did not know men sometimes need to cry to vent their feelings.I memory that a saying"Men cry is not a crime".So,men caun cry when they fragile.

Just as smile, everyone has the authority to show his emotions, including cry.
But in my opinion, the key point is that where and when he cry, because it would show his maturation grade and the ability of emotion control.

If Im sad I cry. there is not a dang thing wrong with that. People who say real men don't cry don't know any real men then. Real men don't care what other people think and aren't afraid to show their emotions.

Well my family is very old school European so for them so see a man cry, well it would be like the end of the world for him!! Seriously, my father thinks that men should hold everything inside and "be a man" as he says. That's just utter nonsense as far as I'm concerned because why shouldn't men show their feelings? They're human too and should feel free to cry when the need arises. It doesn't make a man any less of man just because he chooses to cry. My husband doesn't cry that often though he has before as he's quite sensitive and I actually appreciate the fact that he's comfortable and feels secure with himself to cry around me. I don't see it as a sign of weakness at all because it isn't. I quite frankly wouldn't want to be with some ultra macho male that looks down on men crying, because this type tends to be really stereotypically chauvanistic.

Hello writermom8, i recently read an intriguing poem about a man crying. I did not understand it at first, but i got to understand it. There are men who cry like children and then there are men who cry with pride. Those men who cry like a child, weep aloud and those who cry with pride, weep without sound.
I find that a man can cry when ever they feel the need to. I find it brave for a man to cry soundly. I do not think a man should cry aloud for that defeats the purpose of being a man.

...Hi writermom8, I believe that men who cry are strong enough within themselves, not to worry about what people think of them when they cry. Also that they are so complete in their manhood, that the tears only tend to make them look stronger not weaker. If a man can show that emotional side of him, then to me he is the better man for doing so, and he has my greatest respect. It's also healthier to cry, man or woman, instead of holding it all inside and being stressed out. Tears are cleansing. Just my perspective. Take it easy.

Personally as a Gay Male, Ill cry at any dramatic movie, get all wrapped in the plot and then swear at the actors for screwing up. haha As far as being a Man and not crying/not crying. I think that a Man has the ability to cry, Most Masculine men tend to hid their tears as to show there strong, Others, Are more Feminine and cry more often and then there are those that are in complete understanding of who they are and cry when appropriate.
