What do you do with you cooking appliance boxes?

I tend to throw out the boxes for toasters but when it comes to other appliances like rice cookers & egg cookers, I have been keeping the boxes & keeping the boxes for when I move...now that I am living in a smaller house, I don't really have the room to keep the boxes & thinking about throwing them out to save on space but then I think about how I would pack these items (my rice cooker has a glass lid) when I move again...What do you do with the boxes? Do you automatically throw them out to save on the clutter?

I try to save them to store stuff in. If they sit for awhile I end up throwing them out, but chances are they are filled up and put away.

I didn't throw them. Instead I stuffed my old magazines and send them to the recycling center. If the boxes were as big as me I turned them into playhouses for my students. They love decorating it.

I usually fold them and stack them together thinking that they might become handy sometime. And usually they do but there are times that they get too much to keep so either I give them away or throw them. Some junk shops buy them but they must reach a certain volume in order to be of value so they usually end up in the garbage truck and the garbage collectors are the ones selling them.

I think that's the stage where I'm at - especially now that I have moved house

We've got quite a few boxes stashed in our closet from all the appliances that we have and it's kind of driving me mad. We live in a small place as it is and they're just taking up more and more space. I think at some point I'm going to go on a cleaning spree and start tossing them out one by one! We've just resigned our lease for another year so we're still living in our small apartment so we're going to need the space eventually.

That's what I'm thinking now that I have moved to a smaller house - I need the extra space lol...when you have finished your cleaning spree, do you want to come to my place & help me clear out alot of stuff I don't need that I am YET to unpack?? I moved 2 weeks ago & STILL haven't unpacked & I need to get rid of alot of things lol.

Well, if they're useful or if I can find some use for them like to store smaller items, I'd keep them. If not, then I'd throw them out or take them to the nearby dump because some people here collect boxes and take them to the recycling center for money.

I keep these boxes because time may come when I am going to need these boxes, if these boxes can't be use anymore then I throw them out.

Some of these boxes only have the use of storing the particular item....I am now thinking of throwing them out...

I usually hang on to them for a week or two just to make sure the item is going to work allright then I toss them or use them for storing things like past bills, breakables, craft items. ~~AT PEACE WITHIN~~ **STAND STRONG IN YOUR BELIEFS**[/b]

I have always just thrown them out. I never have had the room to just store that sort of thing. I have moved a lot and I'll tell you....you will find a way to pack those things safely. I wrap glass items in towels or newspapers. I pack and label each box according to which room it belongs in and often list on the box certain items that I know I'll be wanting to find right off. When I know I am going to be moving, I go around and collect boxes from stores. They are pretty easy to get. I think you'll find that you have a lot less clutter if you just get rid of them and you'll be happier.

That's what I'm beginning to think now that I'm in a smaller house - plus I have alot more clutter to get rid of besides boxes too...I think everyone here so far has helped me make up my mind to get rid of the boxes.

I also throw away my appliance boxes except when it is big enough to store old clothes and other clutters in. About two years ago, I did some spring cleaning at home and found some useless stuff stored in cabinets. From then on, I have resolved to give away or throw away stuff I do not need and keep only those that are needed. Have an nice day!

It looks like I'm about the only one that keeps the boxes lol....I think even with the small amount of responses I have so far, I will be throwing the boxes out

I used to keep appliance boxes for a move but now I am gradually getting rid of them. I have a small apartment and would probably move into one of the same size. I've had to become much more careful about what I keep in this apartment. I do still have the box for my large crockpot but I have stored some things in it until it's needed. I love my big crockpot and wouldn't like to have to buy a new one. So, you could keep the rice cooker box and use it for storage now or plan on packing it real well when you move.

That's a pretty good idea - keep the box & just use it as storage until I need it...I might think of doing that - as for the egg cooker box, I think I can live without it as there are no glass bits for it.
