Well, maybe thats stretching it a little bit but I read a report about garlic that I found quite interesting. I love garlic and probably eat it in some form every day. I don't think I cook any savory dish without the addition of garlic and it usually works in any recipe. I always knew there are health benefits from it but never knew how many. Here is what the food administration says garlic can do for us. A compound in garlic called ajoene is a natural antixidant that has anticlotting abilities, thus helping in the prevention of heart disease and strokes. Compounds in garlic have been shown to prevent cancer. Garlic may protect against colon cancer. Garlic decreases the ability of H.pylori to cause ulcers and cancer. Garlic, when cooked with meat reduces carcinogenic chemicals in meat that are believed to be linked to breast cancer in meat eating women. The allicin in garlic has been shown to promote weight loss land to lower blood pressure. Garlic has been proven to lower LDL cholesterol (bad cholesterol and raising HDL (good cholesterol). It reduces the carcinogenic effects of asbestos exposure. It fights free redicals. It reduces inflammation and pain in the body benefiting osteoarthritis and rheumatoid arthritis. Garlic helps with cold and flu prevention, garlic has been shown to fight the germs that cause tuberculosis. A compound of garlic called diallyl disulfide has been shown to kill leukemia cells. garlic is a great source of vitamin B6. Wow, that is one powerful vegetable!! Like I said, add garlic to all your recipes and live forever!!! Just some "food for thought" Do you or will you now use more garlic knowing how good it is for you?

I use garlic quite a bit while cooking. I heard it was good for you, but didn't know just how much until now. I don't think I can increase using it any more than I already do, but I think I will think about it differently now as I am adding it to the dish I am preparing.

I like both fresh and dried garlic. I have it in several herb blends so it does show up a lot at my meals.

We all know that "never die" is a bit far off, hehe. Made me laugh actually. Yes, garlic has its health benefits when consumed in moderation. Then again, if you have too much of it, you might kill the next person who smells your breath. Hehe, okay, I'm kidding. Happy mylotting.

Touche rg0205!!! Of course I was kidding with my title as well..but on a serious note when you read all the health benefits of this veggi you cant help but be impressed..I cant think of another that has quite so many good properties. People worry about the smell seeping out through their pores and are so afraid of being offensive. I use garlic all the time and can't say I have ever smelled it coming through my pores but then maybe that explains why I have no friends...hmmm..Thanks for the post..

Like you, I use garlic in nearly every savory dish. I have heard stories about its benefits ever since I was a small child. My son almost never is sick, he loves garlic.

I once ate a whole garlic clove and my body rejected it. I guess you should only really eat it with food. Garlic is really good for you though, I would definitely agree.

Dear sulsissels, Very informstive discussion. yes, garlic is very powerful thing. If taken in appropiate amount it responds magically. Now a days medicines also includes extracts of garlic in it. it has many curing effects. My mother in law never eats garlic but then we make her understand that it is very useful for us but for some religious ground she doesn,t take garlic at all but now for older people it is very useful.
