If you have obtained a .mov file, then you have a Quicktime video file. Quicktime is a video and audio container format developed by Apple developed by Apple. Quicktime Alternative is excellent software for playing back MOV files. Also Media Player Classic comes highly recommended. Download Quicktime Alternative from: http://www.afterdawn.com/software/video_software/video_players/quicktime_alternative.cfm Download Media Player Classic from: http://www.afterdawn.com/software/video_software/video_players/media_player_classic.cfm

Hello Fiazio, If you are sure that graphics card drivers are up to date, and you have necessary codecs installed in your PC and you have plenty of space in hard drive, then try to allow hardware acceleration for those files you are playing. I am not sure though, but I think you may need to upgrade RAM capacity also to play HD files smoothly. However you can check out whether allowing hardware accleration can do it for you. All the best

Problem sorted, To play HD smoothly calls for a good processor and a graphic card that featured hd playback! Thanks all

Updated VLC,Media player Classic, Quicktime player, and even my graphics driver i think its the fault of the processor i have intel P4 2.40 GHZ processor 1GB of RAM 40 + 80 GB of HDD But i am unable to play the movies smoothly while playing windows task manager shows CPU usage at 100 %.

I found a way to get through the cpu usage, in vlc player in the preferences go in the advance ,mode ... Go to codec and in the video codex x276 select, but I think that won't make a difference, though i noticed a bit of a change in the quality and increase in smoothness

I just updated my VLC player, it has a little improvement that is only after I decrease the quality of the video , I'm not even very sure about that. I have also posted my query at the vlc forum.

you can use the plugins of media player to solve this may be this because your vlc is old please update it or you go into settings and reduce frame rate but that will ruin the audio and video continuity
