Highly Selective Colleges? -Is it worth it?

I have friends who are crazy about going to highly selective colleges such as Harvard, Princeton and Yale. They are literally going crazy. They study like 24/7 and when ever they open their mouth, its about Ivies or one of the other top ten schools. Im just wondering. Is it really worth it to go to a top school? Why or why not? What are your opinions about these highly selectie colleges?
