For me they are best friends if you we own them, but if not, hmmm, that's a different story, they maybe good and loyal but why sometimes we saw them on the news, that they are attacking people till death, sometimes they already kill the people. I heard one news, that a pit bull killed a 3 year old girl, and the pit bull owner's was the father.

Dogs r mans best friend. However man turns out to not be dogs best friend in alot of cases. WISPA and other groops have to many cases where man has treated dogs n other animals badly. Michael Vick case in point, killed dogs for not performing the way he wanted, to bad dogs didn't turn the tables on him.
When people train breeds of dogs to fight, attack or guard they sometimes don't look into the lines of the breed to ensure stability. When a dog is trained to do what they r meant to do work , hunt, show, or b a pet etc. things can change. When dogs r trained to fight n hunt bears or wild animals then brought in the house with a family things happen when a stable line isn't used. When Pit Bulls,Rottis, Amer. Bulldogs, Mastiffs, Cane Corso, Shepards, Dobermans and so on to name a few are trained to do what they r breed for , Work and the lines r not to good bad things can happen when they r brought in the family home after training.
There is other things also but when dealing with animals u should be carefull ..
REMEMBER ALWAYS LUV/ CARE FOR YOUR DOG/ PET, THEY WILL ALWAYS LUV U..

I like your answer, dogs are very unlucky for having humans, hahahahaha, dogs treat people nicely but humans don't treat them that way.
For fogs:
Humans Dogs
Love = Love
Hate = Love
Anger = Love
Disloyal= Loyal and still love.
For humans:
Dogs Humans
Love = Not true love
Care = do not care
Loyal = not loyal
Sacrifice = No way
Pamper = stress
For both humans
Human Human
Love = Love (sometimes true, sometimes not)
Loyal = Disloyal
Faithful = Unfaithful
Stress = Stress
Anger = Anger
Selfish = Selfish
Selfless = Selfish
Care = I don't care

i really like dogs. i kept two dogs before. but when they were grownup, i must gave them away, because i had no time to take care of them. i had to lock them indoor all the time. i can't let them loose because there were always people screaming when seeing them, even though i held them tightly. simetimes dogs are warm and kind than us humanbeing. but sometimes, dogs are still animals, especially when they get rabies.

The reason this is happening is because the owners treat them rough or try to turn them into Guard Dogs as in vicious
I have always had Dogs and still have and unless you understand them and treat them right, this sort of thing will not happen, if they are mistreated they can turn vicious like that
Some People play really rough with their Dogs which can also turn them Vicious
If a Dog is treated and trained properly, it will not happen
Again if the owner knew his Dog was that vicious he should not have had the Dog round his his Child
Certain Dogs do not get on with Children, and People should not get them if they know the Dogs do not like Children
It is a case of making proper decisions when getting a Dog and treating the Dog as they deserved to be treated
Dogs feel to, Dogs have a mind and are very clever nd some People under estimate the Dogs, nature and feelings

We also have dogs and I can say that they are really loyal to their masters. They can relieve my stress especially when I arrive at home and I see they're happy faces welcoming me with their tails wagging. I feel so important to them. I guess we have to be responsible in taking care of our pets. Some people say, how you treat your dog is how they behave. So when you train them to be gentle and nice to people, they will do that. We used to have a German Shepherd and he is very nice with other people. Our neighbors are not afraid of him and they even pat him without hesitation.

Based from my experience they are indeed man's best friend. I was able to rear one and when I left for another city to work, I ended up leaving behind that dog and now I married here in the city I am working on and whenever I go back home that dog still recognizes me and my sibling and wife. It seems he recognizes me and my family as well.
I think in the case of the pit bull killing the daughter was something that is a rare case. Usually dogs that are not properly taken cared of grows wild and could become a danger even to the owners. I think for a dog it should be treated well and it will treat and protect you and your family. Pit bulls are usually grown not to become caring but rather the opposite.

I love dogs and think they are mans best friend! Its the way they are brought up thats the worry as we have 2 staffies and they've been known to be in the papers, but ours are so soft stupid and happy they wouldnt hurt a soul! and i know they are great around children. In the UK Pitbulls are banned and are illegal to own as they have been used as fighting dogs, now if you bring up dogs like that and its
in the blood line what do peopled expect? They are also not there for our protection, people seem to think that its alright to teach them to be nasty in some situations and i think this is wrong because that way they have got it in their head that sometimes its ok to be aggressive and to me thats dangerous.
I love all dogs and have been brought up with them (mum used to breed them) and have two staffies a Dalmation and a Golden Retriever and they have never hurt anyone! Sorry for ranting its just i feel passionate about this subject so very good discussion thanks.

i suppose it just depends on the d itself and only the dog and the owner o what they are capable of and should act on this. As like you say ur Dalmation cant be trusted much like that so you keep your distance which is fair enough i think. Our Dalmation is totally the opposite of yours though she is so chilled and she loves people and other animals! She is getting on a bitnow though bless her dont think he got much go leftin her :(

O i see so pit bulls are banned, now i know, but why do people still have the kind of dog, i also have a Dalmatian and a Labrador. My Labrador is a silent type and my Dalmatian is the aggressive type, aggressive in terms of she is very playful. But with other people around she is dangerous, we do not teach her to be like that, but i think it's normal for them. My Labrador doesn't care about the people around him LOL, he do not even bark, he only barks when he is hungry. But my Dalmatian? O no, it's better to have a little distance specially when we are with her. She is very protective.

Dogs that go bad a human's fault, a dog is what it is, a pack animal and one thta is controlled by the pack leader. If the owner, pack leader, is not doing his job and the dog misbehaves it's not the dogs fault.

The father should be responsible to the affair.It's not the dog's fault only.

I;d like to think that my dogs are my best friend. Normally, if there is something wrong with the animal it is either genetic or it is the fault of its handler/owner. Other than that, they are loyal and protective. I don't see why they should be judged by a few dogs who have gone bad.
If you judge dogs by saying that a pit bull killed a 3 year old then I can easily argue a point where humans kill and do terrible things, too. Your best friend can be capable of doing a lot of terrible things given the right trigger. Does that make all people bad? Of course not.

I have the same idea. I think the dog is the best our friends. But the dog has the nature of itself. we must pay attention to when we get along with them.

Dog's aren't bad. Irresponsible people are bad. Trained dogs don't do this. People who are responsible dog owners also train their kids how to be around dogs. What a sad story but no one is to blame but the father.

You are right, it's the fathers fault in the first place if he trained the dog well, it will not kill he daughter. And i heard, the dog is hungry that time, it's really their fault they did not give the dog a food, even a human can do bad things if they are hungry, what more them, they are only dogs. But are pit bulls really that scary?

Are pit bulls scary? Depends on the breeding and the environment. I heard that the cocker spaniels have the highest bite ratio. How cute those dogs are! But because of that, people probably have a tendency not to train them. So they bite, but aren't reported because the bites aren't severe. Pit bulls happen to have very strong bites and a very bad reputations.
I have known quite a few pit bulls but the people I know are responsible dog owners. Those pits that I knew were some of the sweetest, well behaved dogs who also loved kids. I personally had a rottweiler who was the best dog we have ever owned. He was a 105 pound lap dog who helped my two kids learn how to walk when they were babies.
I don't think dogs should be judged by their breed. Just like people. They are individuals!

sure, they're the best friends for men, they're always happy to see you, and every time you're outside for some hours and yuo return at home they welcome you home. They're so happy when you touch them and they listen to you and your commands. it seems that they can understand you and what do you want from them. I've a dog, he's 12 years, also if he's so old every time i come home he wolcome me and he want some cuddles.

i can say dog is a man's best friend, and they are very loyal to their handler, but sometimes dogs behavior become different because of their sorroundings, but sometimes dogs are just crazy. . . But in other country they eat dog and serve as a special dish, have you try to eat dog already? he try to bite my aunt so we kill our dog and make a dish. . " mans best friend-best dish also" hehehe. . .

I the real sense of what was coined after dogs, they are still mans' best friends. Dogs have their natural instinct to be territorial. If you go beyond their territory, they will attack you. But they are really loyal... you might beat them, spank them or treat them badly but they will remain faithful and loyal to you.

Yes they do have natural instincts, they are too loyal and to lovable, so good to be true right? But some dogs do fight back if beaten. Well i guess it really depends on their handlers. Then why beat them if they do nothing. I also heard of stories of dogs, who sacrifices their life for their owners and some rescue their owners.
