When you begin to have that empty feeling, what do you do?

Just recently, about a month ago maybe, I had my license revoked. The situation is stupid really but the point of the matter is that I can't go around freely like I used to. As a high school student, I already know where I want to live and what I want to do. How many kids I would like to have, what names I would name them, my ideal partner, my average sized house decorated to the way I like it, and that I'll be working for the government or some other politically-related job. I'm already at the point where I fail at high school because I don't try in science or math, the two subjects that simply bore me. I know what I want to study, and I want to specialize in that specific interest. However, living under my parent's roof AND rules have hindered me very much. I don't like going to the movies like most teenagers do, because I appreciate motion films better at home with friends (cheap and easier); I hate going to high school football games, why go out and cheer for a team that will already win; etc. etc. name any other activities that are the norm for young people my age, and I probably do not engage in them. What I DO enjoy doing though, are cafe lunches and discovering new areas, meeting great people and holding long conversations. I love food, architecture, photos, clothes (fashion, in the sense of the way one presents him or herself), shopping because I feel like it's a form of discovering things (great stuff w/ great prices), and most importantly, to discover. Obviously, this is not possible without a convenient transportation. So if you are stuck at home, wondering about anything and everything. What do you do? Take a walk? Watch television? What gives you the comfort that there is more to life than it seems? Even if one is capable of driving, what do they do once they've memorized every street and turn around them? I want to travel, big time. Make the world my playground, LITERALLY. So MyLotters, what do you do when you have that empty feeling inside of you, the emptiness of life?

You don't seem very happy stuck at home. I find I feel alot better when I start planning out what I would like to do and have with the future. Before I had my boyfriend I used to get on aim and talk to my best friends about it. Now my boyfriend and I have been planning out what we would like for our future. Maybe putting it out on paper or what not would make you feel better. I don't know how you express yourself (on paper, on the computer, ect) but having things like that somewhere stored is nice to look at for me. I dunno might sound crazy....

Welcome to mylot! Well, I struggled with depression. It's something I still go through today. Whenever I feel empty I try and shift focus on the things that I have and the people that love me. I try and create a mindset where I count my blessings so I don't dwell on negativity. As a distraction, I also try to do something I enjoy or go for a run.

It is obvious that most people may have met such an experience before. Even if someone have never met such a bad situation, he/she will have to face the difficulity sooner or later. The empty feeling is a part of our life. If I have that empty feeling inside of you, I guess I will travel around the world myself to enjoy another different life. To stay at home is not a wise choice because you won't recover from the current annoying situation. Of course, you can do something else that can help you change your current life style. Have a nice day!

Hey, my friend. It seems that you're reaaly upset at home. I can understand cuz I have a lot of such experience like you. If I were you, I'd like do some thinking and just write down whatever I have thought. I think this is a kind of growing up. At first maybe I feel angry or bored, thinking can help me to calm down, to see the whole picture, to be more clear, and realize that the things are not just exactly as I thought before. It's easy to be extreme when we have some negative feelings inside. But after that I always cheer up and go on to persue my dream again~ Hope you can soon get out of the bad feelings!
