Treatment for addiction

I was wondering what would be a better treatment plan for an addict who is ready to attempt recovery. Do you recommend a 12 step program, private drug and addiction counseling , or a combination of both. The person has already refused in house treatment so I have no clue what to do. They have hit rock bottom. What should I do.I luckily talked them into getting a blood test for health precautions. They are an Iv drug user and this is the first time they have seemed ready and accepted help. Any advice is welcome.

Hi Tclair, The first thing that a substance user must do is to accept the fact that there is a problem and there is need for medical and therapeutic intervention. the person must be ready to face and undergo the said process and bear with until he/she finishes the program. Detox is the first thing to do... Treatment and therapy will follow and the caseworker will be able to assist you on how to go with the rehabilitation program and the family's role to support the substance user.
