I like writing articles and have been thinking of joining these sites. Which of the three sites would you recommend beginner writers to join? Oh, also please tell me what you like and dislike about them? Any stories/experiences are highly appreciated. Thanks in advance!

Hi Alwayzzcitra, I write for Bukisa and Triond. Helium doesn't accept writers from India and therefore, I've no idea about Helium. I love both Bukisa and Triond. In both these websites, if you can make more friends, they'll start to read your articles and you get page views. Keyword optimize your articles and search engines are sure to pick your articles when someone searches. You can take a look at my articles in my blog.

Hello anuramn! I have checked your articles and I think they are very nicely written and interesting. I doubt I can write as good as you lol. Your suggestions really make sense, I hope I can try them in the future. How long have you been in those sites? Have you been paid yet?

Helium offers the most scope for writers and for earning. As well as all the channels to write to, there are weekly writing competitions and marketplace. There's also a great support network to help with problems, so I'd say Helium is the besto of the writing sites.

I've heard people said that the marketplace is the best feature in Helium. I don't read their faqs yet, but after reading your explanation, I'll sure to take a look.

I think triond is best for writing and publishing your articles the site navigation is very easy in triond but making money in these are little difficult you have write good articles and also you need more friends for huge traffic to your article.

I agree with you. Getting lots of traffic seems so difficult. That's the main reason of my hesitation on joining those sites. If later I find out that publishing there doesn't worth my time, then I'll stick to mylotting. At least I have fun being here lol

I have join some of these sites too but not very sure about making some earnings with them. Now that you are in the same boat as I am, I will be reading all the comments posted here with eagerness to see if I can pick up some tips or two before I get active.

Hello kl_bluenight, glad to know you're the same boat as I am. Have you written any articles yet? I'm interested with triond because I heard they promote your articles better. Hopefully we can get more info here.

I've recently joined Bukisa but am not really sure how it works. I'm also a member of Helium and again, am confused as to how you earn but my earnings are slowly rising now so I think it's worthwhile. You could also try ciao too.

As far ar I know both bukisa and helium pay you based on your articles' page views, so traffic plays an important role here. Now I wonder how do the members attract visitors because I've heard somewhere that traffic exchange isn't allowed.

You are right, traffic exchange is not allowed. You can leave comments on someone else's articles and in turn they would read your article. This way you can increase page views. Similarly, if you have a blog of your own, you can post your article links there and can share your blog with friends and relatives. Posting links in yahoo answers or in selected forums is yet another way of creating traffic to your articles.

I have been a member of Helium and Triond and I like Helium since it's great for international writers and they have got great support and all the channels to choose from. I haven't been there for a long while and now I plan to make a good back there to work on some articles! I got paid before and it is a nice site!

Most of my articles only earn a few cents a month in Helium. I know that doesn't seem like much, but if you are persistent, and keep writing, you will build up a library of articles on there that will earn you decent money. If a typical article earns 10c a month, then if you have 100 articles on there you will earn $10 a month. Don't forget the articles will keep on earning, month after month, so as you add more articles, so your earnings will rise. If you write an article a day, then by the end of the year you could be earning $30-40 a month easily. Of course this doesn't even include upfront payments, or any money you may earn from the marketplace! So you could earn a few hundred dollars extra through these payments as well. I think if you write an article a day for a year, you could earn $1000 over the year, plus you would be earning $30-40 a month in residuals from that point on, even if you stopped writing!

I'm on a few writing sites including Associated Content, Bukisa, Helium, and Triond. Triond accepts only original and previously unpublished content. As long as the work is yours, you can post it on Bukisa. So, some people write for Triond first and then tweak it to go onto Bukisa. Helium seems to be hard to figure out. At first I was impressed with Associated Content[AC] because of the option of upfront payment. But if your article does not qualify for upfront payment, AC then becomes one of the lowest paid writing sites on the internet. But AC has the advantage that I can upload pictures and video fairly easily without too much concern about size. The only sites I've seen that pay less are sites that do not pay at all, such as Articlesbase, which a site designed to help website owners get content to their websites. One problem all the sites have is that many of us do not use our MS Word spell-checker or grammar-checker. There are some things that the useful tools mentioned above may suggest but not provide an alternative for and some things the tools just cannot know. But use them. Recently Word Grammar-Checker suggested that I not write a sentence in the passive voice. So, I looked in a book for kids called "Painless Grammar" [Second Edition] by Rebecca Elliott, published by Barron's, and copyrighted in 2006. I checked it out from my Local Library. One thing I and other writers do is not double check our spelling and our intent. I saw one comment yesterday that said "If you want to so something about it...". Obviously from the context of the content the commenter meant "If you want to do something about it." Today, I made a comment in a similar situation-was correcting a link from a previous post. I said "Here's the correct on" I had accidentally erased the e in the word one while deleting yet another mistake in the links I had posted. If we are going to write quality articles it would help us all to improve our grammar, style, and punctuation. Centre is fine because it is a correct spelling of an English Speaking country and is clearly understood. However, for me Center is the correct spelling. Also knowing proper grammar rules can help you decide when it is acceptable to bend or break them. There are also sites like Gather and Yelp that pay you for your content. In Gather you exchange your points for things or money. Yelp, I'm not sure how that works, but I posted something in a forum and got more response than I've ever gotten. It's also a good idea to preview, review and edit your writing before you post.
