Are you giving chances to Older discussions? Might as well.....

This is something I least expect from a friend who has gone missing in action for a long time. He shocked me by responding to all my discussions filling my email with all his responses to all my past discussions as far back as 9 - 12 months old discussions. He resurrected all my past discussions which have long gone to rest and might no longer be interest to others.
He is only the second person who has done justice to my discussions by putting life back to them. These discussions could have long been forgotten, even I myself have faint memory of discussions that I have started months back. I can only recollect my past discussions if I dig deeper into my profile where they are safely kept. He has set a good example for us to walk down memory lane to find topics in friends profiles to respond. I didn't realize that I have started so many discussions that were left unresolved. Wouldn't you have thought of going back to check past discussions if you can't find something to respond? I might do likewise and start this new trend of recycling old discussions. It only need one person to respond, to revive and expose old discussions for all to see.

Hi Zandi!
That's a great gesture that your friend has undertaken. He could have just deleted all the notifiers in his mail and just started from the new discussions and I admire him for not doing that. This way he will not lose out on the part of you that he missed while he was away and at the same time all those discussions will get a new lease of life!
I have new responses on my old discussions very often. Possibly because I don't start many and users go lookig for something of mine to respond on and they revive them. A lot of my topics are myLot related and will never be out of date but even the others receive new responses and I am thrilled when they do.
I do the same too. When I add a new friend and look for one of their discussions then I skip back a few pages and find an older one with a topic that is still actual and land there.
I have some friends who regularly fish out the older stuff too (one of them is up the top there ) and it was thanks to them that some of my older discussions with very few responses then received a couple of new pages. After all, when they were posted a huge chunk of the Lotters that are here now were not around so for them the topics are new
We could all find some real treasures in our friends' profiles if we just hunted for a little bit... who knows

Yes, the 'goldmines' are in our individual profiles. We only need to do a little bit of search to get down to real good topics to respond. I know your mentoring is an ongoing business and it remains evergreen regardless of the seasons. You remain a walking mylot encyclopedia for the community here. Want to know more seek the services of the 'yellow lady' by going to your profile. The golden rules of mylot is laid in prints neatly arranged for the reading pleasure of everyone. If in doubts they only need to respond to your discussions to get your attention. Easy, isn't? I have not done any search yet on my friends profile and my friend here has given the lead to do likewise. Definitely I will make it a habitual affair.

hahaha Alice! I can just hear you jumping up and down!
The 'yellow lady' is the sweetest thing that I have been called so far. I have heard many different versions on the same thing but that one is positive! As soon as I can I will get round to posting about something different - once I have finished dealing with th all the old ones obviously, so it won't be just yet Then there are many friends who need attention too...

[b]Okay--I'm back, & here is what I meant to post to your discussion! And again, my sincerest apologies for the goof-up!
I do answer old posts, as I may find new insights or info, or I may be able to solve some dilemma for the poster, even yet. Who knows?
This of course doesn't apply to old news debates, which I'm sure no-one's interested in now, not even the poster...[u]unless[/u...I find outright disinformation. When that happens, I can't resist jumping in with both feet to set the record straight, I don't care if the post was sent years ago! I despise lies!

Thank you for coming back. I am sure it wasn't an intentional error on your part. But I did enjoy reading through them though.. You are right, if we can share our views and be of help to others, by all means avail yourself to the needs of others. You will receive great blessings from above if you can impart some of your experiences to friends here who are in dilemma. Putting smiles in many faces gives us immerse satisfactions. I think everyone despise lies but the cyberworld is full of lies and rubbish that need to be filtered before taking it as bible truth or maybe half truth.

[b]Argh... "The best-layed plannes of myce and menne, gang aft agley...."
Some days, my fingers just have a mind of their own, y'know? Please ignore all underlines. There was supposed to be one under the word "unless."
Sigh. I go 'way now bye sorry.

[b]Of course I came back; I keep my promises!
I hope you like my newest reply--to a different (old) discussion you posted. I was checking you out to see if I should ask you to be a friend--you qualify...hee! While poking around in your profile, I found a discussion about cockroaches which I found interesting. Go see my reply! :o)
And yes, the cyber-world is indeed replete with lying scoundrels, but MyBot (as I call it) seems to (so far...) have fewer than most sites!
Blessings on you, dear! See you later!

HI Zandi!
It is good to know that someone touched and responded to your older discussions to make them alive. I strongly believe that you always start quality discussions and anyone could respond to your discussions and can share his/her views. I always enjoy while responding to your discussions. It always makes you nostalgic when someone re-opens your older and forgotten discussions. I have take note of your suggestions and would comply, as and when time permits me.

Hi Zandi!
It is my pleasure and good look too that I met you here on mylot. May be we did not cross too frequently in the recent past. I am doing fine.
Please do not worry, if you continue in the same fashion and devotion, you will surely overtake me one day. My best wishes are with you.

Nice meeting you here dpk. It seems that we have not cross path for a long time. So how are you and your mylotting going on? You are one of the pioneer member here and surely you too have made tons of discussions and responses to earn you good credits. It is really not easy to tally the huge figures besides your name. Though I have come to age with mylot, I can never come to parallel your points.

Back when the glitch of mylot happened a few weeks ago... Well I started to resurrect the older discussions of mine own and others so that I can bring new life into them, and hopefully get more insight from newer members as well.
It's always good to go back and juice the older discussions, or dust the cobwebs off old ideas and make them new again!

I love the feeling I get when I rejuvenate a member's older discussions. I know that in most cases they are happy to see it get more replies, and generally we have fun and discuss all about the subject, a little off it too!

Hi ronnyb, it is not impossible to take one or two hours to sit and respond to all the discussions from one poster but it takes a fast thinker to accomplish the task as the subjects of my discussions covers few interests that demand deep thought but my friend here did it within a short span of time and he put worthy views to his responses, a very intellectual person that is able to come up with good answers spontaneously.

[b]That is heartening.... It probably would happen more often if not for the huge influx of new posts coming in constantly. I mean, how often does anyone have the time? I have trouble keeping up with the new posts! Still, I'm doing it today!

ha ha ha ha ha... Well, I archive all my response email notifications.
And will try to get to them whenever I can.
Throughout the year, there are busy times and lull periods. Lull periods are the only time I can actually stay in touch with my friends, be it online or in real life.
So, when the lull periods hits, I would be busy catching up!

smiles......finally the most talked about person in this discussion made an appearance to grace this page. You have not only stunt me with your marathon responses to my older discussions but you have ressurrected my old discussions which I thought are destined to my profile archives and would never see the light again. How wrong I am as you found the pleasure to liven up my old posts. 'Kuddos to you'. Your good deeds did not go unnoticed and I am so touched by your impromptu actions. Thank you once again.

Hi zandi,
I just gone through the similar situation and my inbox was filled with new replies to my old topics. The interesting thing, that friend responded to my first discussion (3 years ago) in mylot and that time I was not aware about the importance of commenting back and awarding a BR and shocked to know that I haven’t commented back to them and even didn’t resolved too. I too was not bothered to recheck my old discussion. Another friend followed him and she responded some selected discussion.
I have the habit of checking old discussions of new friends but never went so deep.

You are right; whenever I check out other friends' older discussions, I can see quite a number of quality ones. And there weren't many answers to some. Perhaps because everyday, there are always people posting discussion upon discussion that people tend to forget about the older ones. Whenever there are quiet days in mylot, like during a weekend, I would love to go back to the olden days of the lot. Just check out what ticks and whatnot people off during those times, happy and sad discussions, exciting and many more.

Older discussions are always open for anyone who wishes to respond to them. After all they are still worthy of reading and responding. Some discussions from newbies still need a bit of reconstruction as they are one line discussions that are not so challenging to respond.

Personally it is exciting to see people giving chances to Old discussions. As I am so far behind in responding back to a lot of my Older discussions still, and choosing Best responses there are a lot of discussions there that people could still probably learn from and help out on. I know I am one that has restored a lot of older discussions for some of my friends, and I feel it is worth it even when a Best Response has been chosen if it still is something that I can relate with.

lol..it's interesting that you ask because that's exactly what I am doing. I haven't been on mylot for a while and each time I log on, I actually have been responding to old discussions rather than the new ones. I have a folder in my mail box of all the notifications of the old discussions and whenever I want to mylot, I go through them first. So, yeah...that's what I am doing right now...and hope you will be pleasantly surprised to have this one pop up one fine morning..lol

Old discussions like this one?
Yes, I do reply to old discussions, some even 5 years older. I respond to them as long as their topic interest me.
At first I was hesitant because answering to old discussions seems to be walking to an empty room. Everyone had participated and there is no one there anymore. But based on feedback by the veterans here about responding to old discussions, I learned that no discussion would be too old to participate. And so I started participating to old discussions. What is nice is some of the discussion starters still comment back to their responses. To me that is so cool!

The beauty of this lot is discussions never fade with the passage of time. Anytime anyone can respond to them which will automatically give them a new lease of life that will expose them alongside the newer discussions. As the OP of the discussions I am obliged to acknowledge new responses regardless of the length of time it has been parked in my profile. I am always around to reply to anyone who care to respond to my older discussions.
