Remember when something in the mailbox with your name on it was exciting?

Remember when you got excited when you found an envelope in the mailbox with your name on it? Before snail mail became nothing but bills? When was the last time you opened your mailbox and found something that brought a smile to your face? How would it be to get a birthday card that came with a gift instead of a reminder that your dental cleaning is due?
Ecards are great and all, but do they mean as much to you as a card, made of paper, in an envelope? Do you think that in the great convenience of the internet we are missing out on opening an envelope instead of a file?
Which would excite you more an Ecard or one made of paper, sent to your home?

hiya ted - what have you done with che? good new avatar though. anyway i get cards on my birthday, some people send me ecards as well, but the last time i got something in the post that wasn't gumph from either the bank or virgin was 2 weeks ago and it was some cds. before that it was a couple of books from my mum. i've moved around a lot so my friends and family are fairly widely distributed so i get occasional things from those that live at a distance. i have to say i do not miss handwritten letters though.

Hi Teddy, I'm trying to think now. Well firstly I have no mailbox or letterbox which doesn't matter at all as the postman won't deliver anyway, he leaves the mail at a pre arranged spot like the cafenion. So bills and bills. Not true, I do get the odd hand written thing from abroad but not often. As for cards we don't do cards in Greece.Prefer your new avatar by the way.

Greeting cards aren't part of Greek culture?

I don't mind email but I definitely prefer getting regular mail. I miss getting regular mail. It was always so exciting whenever that envelop would arrive. It was really more interesting getting mail as a kid. I'm not sure why, but getting something at your home with your name on it is a big deal to kids. Now that I'm older, I still enjoy getting things in the mail (not bills of course, but the more interesting stuff). Email is just another thing I've got to put up with day to day.

They say to get more fun mail you need to send more fun mail. Up until now we had to choose between the ease and convenience of Ecards and the personal excitement of real ones.
Sendoutcards.com helps with that very concept. Take a few minutes, think of somoene whose day you'd love to make, then let me pay for your very first Send Out Card.
Once you had the fun of sending it, you still have them receiving it to look forward to. Then you'll also get to hear them rave about how exciting your suprise was. Let me know how things went, ok?

Yes I do, ted. I still use the snail mail but not as often as I used to , admittedly. Just a few weeks ago, I got a long letter from my ex mother in law catching up on things. It was so cool and yes...I did write her back. My Aunt passed a couple of years ago and up until then, I exchanged regular cards and letters with her even tho she only lived across town. Our schedules were such that we did not see each other as often as we'd like so we took time to write each other. I do on occasion send my grandson a letter even tho I could just call or send an e-mail but just because it is so cool to find something in the mail. Letter writing is sadly a dying art.

Mailbox? Well, when it comes to snail mail, the one I can recall is when I got pre-accepted to a college I like. That was quite a ways back. Other than that, if you're referring to email, well, there are tons of stuff I get that I quite enjoy. Last ecard I received was yesterday.

Don't get me wrong, Ecards are fun to get and to send, but they just don't have the same exitement as a real card in the mail. How would you like to send real cards as easily and conveniently as Ecards?
Try it out by using one of my limited number of free cards. Send it to anyone you want, then find out how they felt when they got it. Let me know how it went.

well, as a reviewer of products, I got some little things in the mail last night which really was nice to get. Soon to review them on my blog. Nice stuff like this, instead of mostly bills and the cervical cancer annual reminder.Which I always ignore.
And a written paper card means a lot more than any ecard can.

I'm a big believer in snail mail. I have a close circle of girlfriends who have recently moved to different places. I try to get packages to them often. I try for one a month - so each girl gets a little something every 3rd month or so. And I have an older daughter who lives down south and I send her something every month.
Every so often I get something back and it's wonderful. The latest was actually for my youngest daughter. Her Sunday school teacher sent her a postcard from her mission trip in Bolivia. It got here a week after they were back but it was fun to recieve. It's the longest travelling snail mail we've ever recieved.

Tell me how it went afterwards, ok?

Hello Parated. Yes, I do remember those times, and while I enjoy e-cards, I still love to send or receive "real" mail, something pleasant other than bills lol.
It happens, and always makes me feel happy. Holiday and birthday cards are normal, and the occasional letter from my daughter or sister...always a treat!

I agree, it's always fun! You can help people feel that way anytime you want. Send Out Cards lets you create cards for people to open, but with all the convenience and fun of Ecards.
I'm giving out a limited number of cards, take some time to look around the site, create a card and let someone know you're thinking of them. Let me know how it turns out.

I remember oh so many years ago when I did get excited when I got something in the mail. Of course, I'm old enough to remember when there wasn't email because there wasn't the internet and there weren't even computers, at least not home computers. Postal mail was the only mail we had. Nowadays, when I look through my mail, about the only thing that even slightly intrigues me is when I actually get something with my name hand written on the envelope instead of a computer printed label or showing through the envelope window.
I like getting a card once in a while, but I got far more enjoyment out of a letter from someone. That's pretty much a lost art today. Nobody actually hand writes a letter anymore. Typing an email is just so much faster and easier. Email is so much quicker, instant in fact, and you don't have to attach postage stamps.
It's somehow just not quite the same though. There's just something about opening the envelope and discovering what's inside. It's sort of like unwrapping a present. Opening an email or ecard just doesn't have the same sense of anticipation. I never send ecards but I do use email quite a bit. But, I think I'll surprise my old friend and write him a letter. Maybe I'll use a fountain pen...

Wow, it has been a long time since I've seen anyone using a fountain pen. My brother learned Caligraphy years ago and had a lot of fun with it. I don't think he does it much anymore though.
You're right, that sense of anticipation is part of what makes something in the mailbox with your name on it exciting. Using Send Out Cards gives you all the convenience of Ecards, with the fun of real ones. You can even submit your own handwriting to use as a choice of fonts... your own signature too.
There are also a lot of possibilities in conjunction with your work at home website.
Use the free card, send it to someone you can talk to later, find out how they felt when they got it. Let me know how it went.

I still receive a lot of mails but there's nothing to get excited about since most of it are credit cards bills that I wish would just stop coming LOL. But i missed receiving mails and greeting cards from friends. The last time i received one has been like ages already. ecards can't just replace the feeling and excitement of receiving a real one from someone. Cheers!

Wouldn't it be great for your friends and family to get cards in the mail other than the credit variety? Send Out Cards combines the fun and convenience of Ecards with the excitement of getting cards in the mail.
Go ahead, create a card at my expense. Send Out Cards will print it, stuff it, stamp it and address it for you. Then get ready to hear from whoever you sent it to, telling you how your surprise made their day.
Let me know how it went.

i loved getting things in the mail.
the last thing i think i got that wasnt bills. was the audio cd of "the new moon" book. i get the cds to put on my ipod... i prefre the cds so i have a back up if i tunes packed for for n e reason

Aren't audio books great? I don't use them as much as I used to, but when I drove a lot I always had a couple in the car with me. I also agree with you about having a back up hard copy of the things on your iPod. You never know what's going to happen to them, or the information encoded.
One great way to get things in the mail is to sent things to people. Take me up on my free card offer, send someone a card and see how they react. I bet you'll make their day, maybe even their week!
Let me know how it went.

I know this might sound a little crazy but I still get excited whenever I find something inside my mail box with my name on it!. This takes place whether it's a card, a bill or whatever! Things have changed with the improvement of technology. It's far more economical to send an e card now and this is what I do. I no longer write letter via snail mail! I think I have become too lazy for this and I would much rather send an email. I think that it's nice to have that little pleasure of opening something up that has your name on the outside, this shouldn't be removed completely! Andrew

You're right, there's nothing wrong with Ecards, it is fun getting and sending them. They just don't seem to carry the same excitement that a real paper card does. Now you can have the convenience and fun of sending Ecards together with the excitement of getting something in the mail with your name on it.
I'm giving away a limited number of cards so people can discover this for themselves. One of them might as well be sent by you, right?

We still get birthday cards , presents and sometimes handwritten letters in our mail mostly from my kid's great grandparents as they don't use internet or have any interest in it. I think its more exciting than email definitely because you have that physical copy to hold in your hands and keep. You can't do that with emails.

You're right, Ecards are fun and all, but you don't give you something to hold in your hands. Send Out Cards.com gives you a way to send real cards as easily and conveniently as sending Ecards, but the end result is a real card to keep as long as you want.

I love snail mail! When I was young, I joined an international penpal club and I lived for those letters and postcards from friends abroad. I'm thinking of doing that again. Email is great, but nothing beats the excitement of receiving something tangible and getting to see/read what's inside.:)

When i was a little girl, i would be so excited to get something in the mail with my name on it. I felt so important to be getting mail. My mom and dad ordered the weekly reader from school for me. i think it was the first mail i ever receceived. Now i'm not normally that happy to get mail with my name on it. They are usually bills to be paid!

Weekly Reader was probably among the first thing a lot of us got in the mail with our name on it. It was always fun to get. That is why I'm doing my part to keep the fun going even in this day of email and ecards.
That's also why I'm giving away a limited number of free cards for people to send to a friend or family (or even to themselves). How sad would it be for cards to be cast into the scrapheap of history?

Oh yes. I remember those days. I would always get a card from my grandma and my godfather on my birthday and christmas. Every time I would get the mail and saw a colorful envelope with my name on it I would squeal in delight. I still occasionally get cards, which makes me happy. I personally send cards, not ecards, because I feel they hold more meaning.

If you already send cards, then Send Out Cards would be great for you! You pick and write them out just like an Ecard, but then Send Out Cards stuffs, stamps, addresses the envelopes and mails them for you.
I'll even let you send your first one for free.
