Is Sir Alex Ferguson becoming a cry baby now?

For the umpteenth time this season, Sir Alex has gone mad on a referee. Though he might have a point in the current issue with refree Atkinson, but looking at his recent comments on the referees, it is giving a feeling that he is becoming a cry baby blaming the referee for his team's losses. He conveniently forgot the 6 minutes played by the referee which resulted in Man City's loss. It is sad to see such a manager getting to these levels. What are your opinions on this? Cheers! Ram

I think he knows it's not a behavior to adopt, but every now and then, it's not bad to make such comments. It does put a bit of pressure on the referee for the next matches. He'll leave this kind of comments aside, especially since he's been fined for some of these remarks.

Yes, I agree. But this time I think he overstepped and was slapped by the 2 match ban. Cheers! Ram

Agreed, he's been moaning a little too much this season but you can't say his accusations are unjustified. I can cite only two reasons though for his behaviour. One, he's probably trying to protect his players as there's increased pressure on them after the departure of Ronaldo and Tevez. Secondly, poor refereeing has cost his team points against the big teams. How could the Terry goal be allowed? Also, why Carragher was not sent off for a challenge on Owen is still beyond me. This referee, Mr. Atkinson is one of those who easily wilt under pressure(Thankfully, I won't be charged for my remarks made on refs). Having added those 2 extra minutes in the Manchester derby citing substitutions and excessive celebrations, he didn't do it in the chelsea match where players wasted time during substitutions. A clear indicator of his weakness to stand firm on his decisions. I don't blame SAF on this as he's managing the most popular club in the world.

You do have some valid points. BTW, SAF has received a fine and a 2 match touchline ban for his efforts against the referees now.. Cheers! Ram

Hi ram, Sir Alex has always been like this -if he feels that the officials have not been consistant then he is not afraid to stand up and say so. Maybe if we had more managers prepared to stand up to the officials then we would have a better standard of referees. Sir Alex will always stand by his team, his record speaks for itself.

Unfortunately he only speaks up when his side is losing. He did not even have a comment when the referee played 6 minutes in the derby against Man City which enabled Owen to clip the winner. :) Cheers! Ram

I think it's not just Fergie who complained when referee's decision harmed the team. Some managers did that too. Unfortunately, in this season there are a lot of referee's decisions that made Man. United lost when they shouldn't be lost.

I don't know ram_cv, looking at the game, again, the referee was horrible. Fletcher went in a clean challenge and guess what ? It was a foul. Drogba then pulls brown in the box, interferes with the play when he is already offside then they score ? I don't think this is fair though so I think SAF has every right to complain.

I have no problem with his complain in this match, but against Liverpool when he was criticizing the referee I really felt that he is just crying too much this year. Cheers! Ram
