The problem is not falling asleep - the problem is staying asleep :-(
I wake up about 4 times on a good night and I can't just lie in bed and fall asleep again - I toss and turn and get so irritated that eventually I get up.
This broken sleep is killing me!!
Any ideas on how I can stay asleep without taking meds?

Are you drinking caffeinated drinks later in the evenings? This might be causing some of the problem if you are but if not you might want to try things like a cup of milk with honey before bed, apply a hot pack to your back at bed, a hot foot bath. The warmness in your body will make it easier to fall asleep and stay asleep and these few things are easy enough to do without worrying about taking any prescriptions or over the counter medicines. Best of luck....

The hot foot bath sounds good - I think I might enjoy that :-)
Thanks!

When you find that cure please share it with me. I refuse to take my sleep aid last nite and never got a wink a sleep. When I do take a sleep aid I only get between 2-4 hrs. of sleep. ...... Need some... ...

Thanks rg0205 - usually when I actually get out of bed I can hardly open my eyes I'm so exhausted - but I still can't just lie there and go back to sleep! I'll definatley try the camomile tea tonight.

You should consult with your Dr. you may have Sleep Apnea...which is easily overcome with a cpap machine that blows air in your airway to keep you breathing regualrly. If you are finding that , for example your legs keep you awake and you can not get them comfortable to calm down you may have a nerve disorder. There could be a lot of reason but seeking some medical advice would not hurt.....I suffered for years until i found I had Sleep apnea and know I sleep most of the night straight through except for a tinkle break.
