Hello, MyLot! Okay, my question is simply this: I would like to get more serious about photography as a hobby. Can you give me some advice or tips as to how to get started (other than just going out and taking pictures of everything outside)? I'd greatly appreciate it!

One of the first things that you need to do is to build up a portfolio. If you are interested in portrait type of photography, I highly suggest that you offer to let your friends and family have free photo shoots so that you can build up a portfolio. Also, just by the act of taking photos, you will learn a lot about your camera that you may not have realized otherwise. I am not a professional photographre by any means, but I do think that I am a good amateur photographer and the majority of what I've learned about photography has been through trial and error.

Well, first you must read something about the photography as a process, there is a lot of information about this in internet. You must learn the basic terms like ISO, stop, lenses and some other things of this kind. After that you must choose a camera- better take a DSLR or a semi-professional like Fujifilm S-Series.
