Do you eat chocolate or Ice cream when you get upset?

I know this might be sound wired to some people but as far as I see here in the States... most people will eat Ice Cream when they get up set, and I dont know why? For me, If I am upset then I will not feel any hungry at all... If someone have done that, can you please tell me what the point of it and what does it do? Or you are eating something else more and more? what do you release your stress? by eating or thinking or enjoying something else around you? Please share

It’s great that you don’t turn to food for comfort because it is not always the healthiest alternative! I am an emotional eater and when I am stressed or upset I will turn to either comfort food from my childhood or just good old chocolate! This can become a problem if it leads to eating disorders and the like. I try to occupy myself with something I enjoy before I turn to food…Sometimes it works and at other times, it doesn’t! It’s a psychological issue that can need professional help if it gets out of hand.

Hello, I dont know why, whenever I am upset then food doesn't taste anything to me just like plain. So I never turn to food after since.

Hello smile i dont like chocolates adn ice cream either i am happy or sad. whenever i get upset i feel headach...theni like to take a cup of tea or coffee who give me relax from pain. good day

When I am upset, I do more physical activity rather than eat or put something in my mouth. In most cases, I go and jog or at time I just do some hiking. This usually relieves my stress and while jogging or hiking, I will be able to think of a solution to something that is bothering me or upsetting me.

I know... some people do activity more than eating thing... but some people love to eat to reduce their stress... for me.. watching horror movies will help me out

Hi, when I get upset I won't eat ice-cream or chocolate, I don't like ice-cream very much, they will gain weight easily, so I seldom eat them, when I upset I will go to the supermarket, and buy something I like, maybe cookies or Yoguat, I like them I know cookie still can easy gain weight, but when I was upset, I just want to eat some. And I know chocolate can make people happy, so I think that's why people will eat it when they get upset.

hi, Sound like you care about your weight so much... well, smart thinker. I dont turn to food either when I am upset. eating is not my thing so doing something else will help me. if I really upset then the food will not tasty to me at all... so eating is worthless...

I do eat chocolates when I'm upset. I believe it let's out the feel good hormone called dopamine so it lessens the feeling of disappointment and sadness. I have tried ice cream especially if I need cooling down a bit.

i love them in different time... but whenever i feel upset I dont like to eat. I love ice cream in winter time... sound weird but it taste good

when i am upset i dont know what to do.. it is true that when we are upset we have to get rid of our mood by doing something we like..so thats why peope like to eat ice cream or chocolate.. whatever they like to eat.. normally we like to eat ice cream or chocolate dont we.. however i dont have a habbit to eat such things.. mostly i prefer sleeping where i can forget everything in the sleep..

if you dont know what to do, then try to take a long walk in the neighborhood or shopping, or eating something light... it will help you at the moment... stay out of the quiet space cuz it will increase your stress more. I love to go to super market cuz a lot of people there and all I hear is talking and talking... so it will confuse my thought at the moment

I guess this varies from person to person. For me when I feel bad or stressed out, I get on the computer and play games or look at cute stuff. Somehow, that makes me feel better. For people who are emotional eaters, eating is what makes them feel better when they are either stressed out or are in bad/sad mood. I read in the newspaper today that eating carbohydrates makes a person happy, but of course, there are many reasons and factors about this that I cannot explain myself (I must admit, I did not read the whole article LOL). However, as you pointed out people eat chocolates or ice cream to relieve stress, and both are carbohydrates.

When i feel upset i do eat chocolate. in fact now I'm eating chocolate too. I sit in library and put the keyboard to answer your topic. just now I feel really upset. two weeks ago I got a call from Royal Mail, they managed me to work today from 2pm till 6pm. When I arrived i was told the management was cancelled, but nobody called me. I walked two hours in a light shower, but they did not want me. when I talked with the manager she even did say sorry to me. I really feel upset with the so called developed country. so I took out my chocolate that was prepared for work break and enjoy it. I don't like ice cream. it made my heart feel cold.

Hi, first, im sorry to hear that... it is hard when you deal with these people, you know someone that never understand your situation? however, if the keep on doing this to you... then you have to look for another job as well... Of course, I used to work for someone acting like a jerk before... but not long enough I quit and move on. So, hope everything will be alright with you and talk to your manager again and making sure you got the right schedule this time

I tend to eat more chocolate when i am upset or depressed. The best yet is eating chocolate ice cream to get me through the times of woe. I know chocolate is just a substitute. it is just a guilty pleasure, but it does wonders for the soul.

I don't eat anything when i'm upset....that's strange....eating for calm down? I usually stop for a moment, think, wait and try to feel better but no eating. It's funny... stop anger with food...

well, we are not anger with food... it just help you busy from thinking... that's what it is. some choose to eat dark chocolate that make your stay awake and release stress and some choose to eat ice cream cuz it cold and sweet

Well,I am similar to you finding nothing delicious while I am upset.Usually I would try to play games or do some reading.But sometimes,especially when I feel so upset that I would like to do nothing,I choose having a sleep.Though it's hard to sleep with bad mood,I force myself to because after I wake up I feel much better.

I do do this unfortunately. I eat ice cream when I get extremely upset. I'm not sure exactly why,it just seems to calm me down a bit and seems to taste very good when im upset.

smoking is not my thing, neither drinking either. Those two have to stay out of my way. but some people will do smoking to release their stress or a long day from work. but it is not good for your health in the long ran

Yes, especially pistachio mint flavor (ice cream). I also love dark and milk chocolates with mint flavor. Have you ever tasted kisses with cookie chunks, what about the mint one? It's heaven, you'll feel uplifted. As we know, any food that is sweet is antidepressant... but as always, not too much. LOL. Thanks.

I used to do this when I was living alone and have nobody to talk to, I'd have a tub or two stuck in the fridge for cases when I wanted to feel better. But now I have members of the family back in, I'd rather go out and have a nice time with friends and talk about my tantrums without getting too serious, as my friends seem to be the best absorber for my odd mood swings.

Good, some people will down to earth to eat food until they put on too much pound and then they blame on the food, or someone that give them stress... so dont eat, go out better
