Can you turn off your cell phone for a day?

I would want to turn off my cell phone for a day. I really need some rest from those trivial phone calls, and from the outside world. These days, I felt so stress out and exhausted. I simply want a quiet day all by myself. After work, I just don't want to receive a phone call anymore, neither from my friend. I would want to quietly sitting in front of my computer making some money concentratedly, and I just want to be alone for a week. So, I tried to turn off my cell phone, the heck with the outside world. Would you want to do something like that? Disconnected from the world for sometime?

Hi, I can't turn off my cell phone for a day, if my cell phone turn off for a day, I will feel uncomfortable, feel like I miss something, and I'm still worrying about if I turn it off, and my parents or my friends if they want to call me, and my phone is turn off for a whole day, they will worry about me, and get anxious. I don't want that, so I will always leave my phone on.

It accidentally happened to me...I went on a one week vacation on a beautiful island..and I left my cell on my bed..at home! Since i noticed that fact at the airport, it was too late for me to go back and retrieve it. So..I spent 7 days without a phone and it felt GREAT...I really had fun, without having to worry about the availability of the phone service or about charging phones batteries or best of all phone calls!! It was like screaming FREEDOMMM!! Try it...going back to basics..to the time where the only phones available are the landlines..is really like getting a breath of fresh air.

Hey baconbits52, Yes parents always call you if they didn't know where you are or your already late outside. Sometimes it's annoying but they just care or worried. It will be okay for me if i turn off my phone for a day, but if i have spare time ill miss it. So happy my lotting =)

Many days have I left my phone off without noticing whatsoever. I believe that I am just one of those people who feel awkward and reluctant to talk to somebody down the phone (I've always felt more comfortable with traditional face-to-face personally), so it honestly doesn't bother me if I go a whole day, or even a week, without receiving a phone call. Of course, I am willing to defend phones and how useful they are in today's society because of how easily and rapidly they can connect individuals in the blink of an eye during times of emergency, crisis or an urgent situation. However, what grinds my gears deep down inside are people who seem to be dependent of phones, having them glued to their ear and busy tapping away a text every five seconds. Seriously, can't they not just put their "beloved" piece of technology down for even a minute?

I could turn my cell phone off for a day. I have a landline phone though so if someone had an emergency they could call that. I wouldn't want to just turn off the outside world for a week though. I like to go out sometimes and I like to have people call me sometimes. I don't want people calling me all the time but I do like to talk to people sometimes.

Judging from your experience with your cellphone I think you need a stress free day. I don't have a celfone even i can afford one. I just don't like using one at this point in my life. Maybe I just like the way my life as it is.

I have before. Typically when I am out camping, which I did last month, I will leave all connections to the outside world off. I take a phone in case there is an emergency, but won't turn it on if there is none.

Oh, I seriously need sometime away from my phone. Just to feel free and calm myself down. But, we all know that it's never going to happen. Too many people to handle, from work and from home and family. Just too many. I just keep on answering them day and night. But day by day, the number only increases. Even on the vacations, there are too much to deal with.

I ca't turn my phone off for even one day, as it is the only phone I have, and it has to be on for my kids to communicate with me. I don't hae a landline, so my cell phone has become a port of my everyday life. I think it is heat way with most poeple, as cellphones are attached to people, as they een take them to bed with them, and slep wit them. I don't do that as it is dangerous. If I didn't need my cellphone, I probably wouldn't have it on all day. Take care, and happy mylotting.

I can only do this if I am on holiday. Otherwise, my boss would kill me if I did that because if my colleagues cannot reach me for emergencies then I'd be in real trouble. I have no issues turning it off, provided that I don't have to work on that given day.

Hi clorissa 123 :) Yes I can turn off my cellphone for a day, a week, even tried it for months :) Hehehe.. When cellphones were still the hype I got very addicted to it and can't resist not holding it for every 15 minutes.. Hahaha :) I just lost interest in it since I'm now more addicted to the Internet haha :) Sometimes just like you I also wanted to be disconnected from the world temporarily and just feel the moment being alone and meditating :) It makes me think clearly and focus on my goals in life :)

Yes, I'd like to and I did, but I will receive some complains from my colleagues or my supervisor. Most of my phone call is about job. I would like to turn off my cell phone after work, so that I won't be disturbed. I'd like to be along and quiet at home, do what I want and what I like. Pengbubu

I don't think so because nowadays cell phone are really important to me. If there any emergency happened its good to have cell phone by my side. Other than that I think I need it to make a phone call to my friends and family.

I do that every weekend so that I could rest. I go one step more than you suggest and that is, I also turn off my computer. No emails or ym's for the entire weekend. It was hard the first time I did it, but it got easier.

turn off the cell phone - Cellphone has been a part of our daily life. Turning off my cellphone means that I will be disconnected from the world, which is an unimaginable thing for me.
I have to say that it is impossible completely for me to turn off the cell phone for a day. Without the cellphone, I guess I won't continue my daily life any longer. In my opinion, cellphone has been a part of our daily life. With the help of it, we can keep in touch with our family. When working in the office, we can communicate with our customers the cellphone. For most people( me included), a cellphone is the necessity of them. Turning off my cellphone means that I will be disconnected from the world, which is an unimaginable thing for me.
