This story is just amazing. A little boy foils the carjackers plans of stealing his mama's car... I dare you to watch the video attached to this article and NOT cry... I did, and I can't believe the little boy did this, he's so brave! So Innocent too! http://news.aol.com/article/9-year-old-malik-medford-foils/759223?icid=webmail|wbml-aim|dl2|link2|http%3A%2F%2Fnews.aol.com%2Farticle%2F9-year-old-malik-medford-foils%2F759223 I wouldn't be so stupid to leave my babies in the car, but I would hope my babies wouldn't be be so brave as to try to foil the carjacker's plans! What do you think of this story? Do you think the mama should have been charged for leaving her babies in the car?

Often when anyone performs as this little boy did it is because their overriding concern is to save someone else, in this case his siblings. They have no thought for their own safety but just what must be done. This is what he did and did it well. In this case the fact it was only a nine year old boy makes it even more unbelievable. This boy deserves an honer for doing this. As for his mother? In order for her to be charged she had to have been very neglectful. The number of children and their ages would have made taking them in a very difficult thing. Not taking her keys with her was truly the biggest mistake. You can better believe she will not do that again.

He does deserve a medal for his bravery! I am sure the mama wouldn't do it again. Now I am kind of confused on the way I feel about it, she was only in the store for a few minutes and growing up I was left in the car for a few minutes like that myself... So I don't think it did any harm, but I have to agree with you, she'll definitely be bringing her keys in!

That little boy is very brave . I'm sure he did not even think twice but just did not want anything to happen to his little brothers. He is too young to be left alone himself and really too young to be left with such young children and so many of them. I know it is a pain to load and unload all those kids but still anyone leaving their kids for even a few seconds is taking a huge chance. Just watch the news and see how quickly kids are nabbed. Why just this morning, some man tried to abduct some young boy on his way to school. His mother was just a few yards behind him! Talk to any parent that has lost a child because they turned their back for "just a minute". A minute is all it takes for a tragic accident or an abduction. As for charging this mother....she should be charged and her punishment should be to watch stories on other parents that were not so lucky. She should have to go thru parenting classes at her own expense. I know she did not deliberately put them in harms way but there is a reason why these laws are in place. She broke the law and she acted irresponsible as a parent.

To be honest I am a bit confused as to what to think. I believe the mother has been punished by just this very close call. The potential car jacker could have not had his conscious come into play, which is what I believe happened. My husband and I aren't with child yet, but when we are I am most certain we would never endager our children like this. Though it may be a pain to drag all the kids out, if it's just a quick stop anyway I am sure that it can wait!

Your're right. a minute is all it takes. And I do understand...seems like nothing could happen that quick and many parents do it...good parents do it under the assumption that "it's only a minute..nothing will happen". Most of the time nothing does happen. Still it can and it can happen quickly.

This is a very good story of a boy who was brave,I do not know where he got his courage from and I do not know if I would have been so brave in that situation,I think the boy had God on his side,so the carjacker could not have hurt the little boy, because God protects his children, and I know we would not leave our children in the car,and yes I do think the mama should be charged because that is child abuse no one should ever leave a child in a car,and I plan on reading the full article later on when I have more time but from what I read it is a powerful story,I love you.

I do think that god was on his side and the mother and family of the boy must be proud, but hopefully "awakened" to what could have happened. I know we wouldn't leave our chidlren in the car, and if we did I am sure we'd be smacked (figuratively) for doing so.

We would probably be smacked literally too,and I hope that story helped a lot of people to awaken to the fact that anything could happen, since some people do not consider the consequences of their actions, which is part of the problem with our society,I love you with all of my heart and soul.

I heard about this yesterday. What a brave boy. I'm so happy he had the guts to do something and not let the guy drive away with them all in the car. I think the mom should never take a chance leaving the kids in the car. This is not 1950's or 60's. There are just to many crazy desperate people out there looking to do harm to others.

In some areas it is safer to leave children in a car, but in other's it's not. I can't say for sure if I will ever do this. Some have made the point on here and on the article's comments that you just don't know how hard it is to cart a bunch of kids into a place for only a few moments. I am sure it would be hard to do, but I think I would rather do that if I wasn't sure I could trust the area!

Carelessness breads accidents. This is an eye-opener for all of us. Always be very carefull with our children specially. As for the child a big salute to him. He must get a bravery award. God must have prompted him to act that way.

Yes It is an eye opener, and I am sure especially to the mother. Her son was very brave and should receive a reward for his bravery!

Shouldn't leave kids in the car period, too many kidnappers out there, they would love to get the kid more than the car.

Terrible things happen in this world we're not even aware of, kids are kidnapped every day, and worse they are killed. Two recent stories come to mind, and yet people still leave their kids in the car.

THIS BOY WAS VERY BRAVE AND ALSO HS SURVIVAL INSTINCT KICKED IN. He HAS PROBABLY HAS SOME RSPONSIBILTY OF WATCHING HIS YOUNGER BROTHERS. I DO NOT THINK THAT THEY MOTHER SHOLD BE CHARGED. SHE RAN INTO THE SHOP TO BUY DRINK AND HER NINE YEAR OLD IS PRFECTLY CAPABLE OF LOOKING AFTER HS YOUNGER SIBLINGS. IT HAPPENS ALL THE TIME OUT HERE. I CAN SO UNDERSTAND TH MOTHER ASKING HIM TO LOOK AFTER THE OTHERS WHILST SHE DASHED INTO THE STORE. IT WOULD HAVE BEEN SO TIME OCNSUMING TO GET HEM ALL OUT ETC. SHE SHOULD NOT BE CHARGED. A VERY BRAVE BOY - SHE MUST BE SO PROUD OF HIM.

I am terribly confused, on one hand I think she should be charged, on another I understand... But I suppose that I don't really have an opinion yet since hellcowboy and I aren't yet with child.
