Catholics has a doctrine that does not support Artificial Contraception and it means that not following it is a Sin. I am Born Catholic but I think that doctrine has a purpose & everybody has a reason why they are against it. I am one of those against it because if we are only depending on the natural contraception it would end up getting an unplanned pregnancy. A sin for me is having to many children that you can only afford in feeding them but not in educating them. You cannot even have time for yourself because you are trying to be faithful to what your doctrine or religion says. Abortion is a sin but using Artificial contraception is not you are just trying to raise a good child & give him a good future that when they look back they can say that they have the best parents ever.

Hi Happy, I agree with you that it is much worse to have a big family that you can`t afford to feed, cloth or educate properly. Most Catholics in the west don`t go along with the church on this anymore. I guess something becomes a sin for someone when they think it is. Blessings.

Hi! I also am a catholic and yes it was a big dilemma for me when I started taking artificial contraceptive. As you've said it's more disastrous both to the children and the parents to have kids more than their finances or time would allow them to have. I've grown up in a large family and I could say that my parents were really good and they tried their best, but there are times when I think that we could have better chances at a better life if we had been smaller. All said..there are advantages of having a big family. I guess my one reason for not wanting to have many kids is because I can't do as much as my parents had done, I think I may not be able to sacrifice that much of my personal life.
