Should play be just for children?

Having fun is essential for leading a happy and healthy life. As adults we are often caught up in the serious affairs of life to such an extent that we forget how to have fun. Play is a way for us as adults to experience once again the pure innocence and joy we once knew as children. When we act with unabashed abandon, we are living solely in the present moment. Joking and lighthearted teasing are ways to connect and share this delight of being present with others. We experience greater freedom and deepen our relationships as a result of our shared joy. Finding a way to play and joke will help us bond more deeply with our inner child, our friends, and our spirit.

Nope. I don't think so. I think play should be for adults too; and there are lots of activities that we can basically do. For a start, to have a board game and play UNO Stacko, Monopoly or any cool card games. When people get together to play, there is a bond and the closeness can definitely be felt. I like games that are of thinking ones and my most favorite one last time was Cluedo, where we have to figure out who is the murderer.

I toally agree that we all need to keep the child alive in our lives. I believe that it will keep us healthier as well. Great discussion and have a great day my friend. Keep smiling.

My friends enjoy the fact that I'm always joking around since to me life doesn't have to be so serious. There is always a time to be serious and a time to play and joke around with friends.

hi pose123 You are very wise. we as adults need to play too, and we need to awaken the child that is in all of us.let it out to laugh and smile and have fun. we joke and tease and make ourselves lighthearted again like we did as kids.we can find ways to have fun and to enjoy sharing that fun with friends and loved ones too.

I am a firm believer that play/having fun is meant for and should be done by ppl of ALL ages! To me it doesnt matter if you are 2 yrs old or 100 yrs old and every age in between...We NEED to lighten up and enjoy living in a carefree way that brings us pure happiness..Sadly once we hit our teen yrs we are more or less forced or conned into "growing up" and being "mature"...whch means we forget what its like to have fun...I do NOT fall into that category LOL...

Hi Ravenladyj, How true that is, we need to lighten up. What's wrong with jumping in the snow when you are sixty? Everyone were pleased that you were happy when you were doing it at six. My thought is as long as you are not hurting another, and you are happy, no one should judge. If I enjoy getting on the floor and playing with my grandchildren instead of talking politics with the other old men, should it matter to anyone else? Thanks for your comment. Blessings.

hi pose, Laughter and joking around is essential to good health. I believe in the power of being humorous is infectious when you see someone smiling and laughing, you are feeling the same things you becomes happy too. Though your mind may be clouded with vast formation of unending worries on your daily life battles. It could not be deny that as a way to escape the turmoil and selfishness of worldly matters, one could be happy in simple things by being yourself associate yourself with a fellow peers who embodies to live a simple life, full of hope and happiness. It is good to have fun for awhile back to being feel young and never ever be ashamed to show to play for fun as it is relaxing, have good effects to one's health being happy makes anyone escape depression.

All of us need to have fun in our life. We must not spend our time working and studying. We must enjoy every single moment of our life because at any time we could lose it. Too much of something is too bad for someone. Too much work is bad for you who does it and too much play is bad for you who does it. We must manage in working and in having fun. "Too much study makes Jimmy a dull boy" that's what the proverb says. Being a genius is not as important as having fun and being with friends that is my stand in my life. Even though you're a genius when you're not having fun and you doesn't have any single friend you're life is nonsense.

Everyone has his/her inner child and I think it is good to feed that childishness in us by a little play once in a while. Life becomes a little lighter with a little play.

That's true.. as we grow up we have to get more mature. But does this really means we have to stop having fun? Is the life so cruel? Don't think so. I think as a grown up you can still enjoy an old computer game you were playing when you was a kid. Friends can also help you have some fun, while getting together for diners or a movie, and chating. Sports can also bring you a smile on the face, but most important are the persons around you every single day..like life partner, kids .. family. You should never argue with them, and if you do..solve that issue as fast as possible, and go on, cause life is to short to get stucked in this things :)

Pose- It most certainly is not! I enjoy play quite a bit. Sometimes it is in playing with my children, but other things are just my own play. I love to color with colored pencils and that is my relaxation. I love to blow bubbles in the summer time. I enjoy laying on the grass and watching the clouds go over. Oh, we do have the technology games as well-I love my Wii and enjoy gaming quite a bit. I just love those things though that involve nature where I can get lost in the moment and forget about all else around me. It does bring you back to the state of a child where you are simply in the moment. There is much we can learn from child's play. Namaste-Anora

OF COURSE play is for adults too! Whether its joking with friends, board games, running around with your kids/grand kids... everyone needs that little bit of thrill in their life, regardless of how they achieve it as play can be defined a million ways based on who we're talking about. And actually - along with the "as adults we are often caught up in the serious affairs of life"... when I start getting down and out.. I realize it IS when I'm taking life to seriously and not spending enough "floor time" with my daughter. Play in anyway leads to a happier life. Period.

I'm still young at heart sometimes I feel that I'm going back to my childhood when I play with the kids here. I think there's nothing wrong about that if we want to be childish sometimes. I don't take life too seriously because sometimes it makes me more stressful.

Pose123- Play is not just for Children. Adults need it more. It's just because with our grown-up, we learn to be caution, hide what's real in mind to protect ourself, we demand more, our desiraton begin to swell, we lost ourselves step by step... what a pity. As an adult, we should abosulately find some ways to play and joke, that's exactly what life should be. you are a wise gentleman, thanks for showing us your wisdom.

Hi GaryJoule, Thank you for sharing your thoughts. It's unfortunate that we pay so much attention to what others think of us. You're right adults need to play even more than children, but often we think that we're expected to be serious. Blessings
