iPod Touch or NetBook

I homeschool my three children. Quite a bit of our work is done on the computer. This means we are stuck at home sharing one computer. It can get quite frustrating at times. I have been thinking of getting each of the kids either an 8gig iTouch or a Netbook. I can't decide what would be the best overall. I know the iTouch's are quite popular, but are they more practical for doing school work? Or would a Netbook be more what I am needing. Any advice?

Netbook is definitely the one as they are more practical for doing school work. I don't really know how you can do school work on a iTouch. It can be quite painful to type on an iTouch for long hours since it is quite small. A netbook has a full keyboard as well as a software such as word processor and internet browser. Not to mention that the price is low, and probably worth more value than the iTouch.

This is what I was thinking. Why, I wonder, are so many schools now handing out iTouches to their students for school? A friend of mine recommended I get my kids the iTouch, but I am still not sure what would be the better purchase so I have held off. I am trying to get as many opinions as possible before I make such a large investment, 3 of what ever I get will be :)

I didn't know that they are using the ipod touch in schools. That is really somthing, and makes me wonder why they have chosen it instead of a computer, as it would be much easier to type om. Beleive me, I did post in here one response, and it seemed to take a half hour to type ti, so I am not sure why they would even think about using them in schools. I am a grandmother, so this is all new to me, but you know, since I have been in school, things have really changed, much faster than I wouldhave thought. Don't get me wrong, the ipod touch is a good gadget, but I don't know if it is appropriate for school. Oh well, if they decide to use them in shcool, I guess there is not really anything we can do about it. Take care, and happy mylotting.

Thank you for your response, good one. I figured it would be quite difficult to type on the iTouch as well. There isn't a way to "write" on the screen as there is on a PDA. I do have a PDA that I have decided to try to use for my kids school. It's a great tool for them to read off of, but not much else. I am thinking the iTouch will be quite the same. I believe I will be getting them Netbooks in the near future. Thanks for your input :)

What reason do you recommend the iTouch over a netbook? Is there something about the iTouch that is better for school? How will my children be able to use the iTouch for their school work? I am leaning more toward purchasing a netbook for them. But, there are quite a few schools that are passing out iTouches to their students. I am wondering what the big deal is over the iTouch versus a netbook (small laptop).
