How many of you work at home? I have my own home office and I do most of the work online but I have a problem. Even though my BF is not home during the day I feel that it's really hard for me to concentrate on working. I keep thinking about all the dishes that need to be washed, all the laundry and so on. Do you have the same problem? How do you overcome it?

My biggest distraction is MSN. I live 2000 km away from my family and since my sister is at home wiht her son and works from home too we keep talking too much :D

I work at home, too, and I do have a problem concentrating at times. Other times what I'm doing is interesting enough that I forget the bathroom needs cleaning or the stairs need sweeping. Sometimes, when it gets to me badly enough, I'll take a break and sweep the floor or something. It doesn't take very long at all to do one or two things to keep the house looking decent. (So I keep telling myself.)

I'm doing the same thing but it's hard to go and sit back down and start doing the same stuff again. Right now i have a big translating project which is really boring since i am translatin the same stuff every day.

I can understand your problem, nosferatu, because I encountered the same problem as well. I can conclude this:
Home, is different from an office. Unless you have a working office at your home, a room that is made for working only, maybe a library, you would always feel a lot of distraction around you. Me, for example, working on my bedroom. I wasn't thinking about the dishes, but always thinking of how comfortable the bed and the pillow if I could just sit or lie down for a while...
Maybe the best you can do to be able to concentrate working at home is by finishing all the house work before actually working in front of your computer. At least, by doing this you would have your mind a little bit settled. You wouldn't think about things you've finished doing and you would not get yourself distracted. Good luck.

Hey, thanks for the ideas. I have a special office room all to myself but my BF likes to keep te door open so he could see me from the living room which is really annoyng for me. I do try to do all the home stuff to but i'm a chaotic person i cant sit 3 hours straight behind the computer so i usually take an hour to work and then an hour to do something else but when i go and start to work again its hard to concentrate again.

I understand your problem. Though I have a job and I go to office regularly but in the weekend i work from home. Everyday I think it would be great and no one will disturb me. But what I realsed that working lonely and alone sometimes divert my mind. And i can't get satisfaction from what i'm doing.

After i started working home i discovered that other people don't see you as a working person and feel start treating you like afull time housekeeper. I do need time for working but i get interupted all the time by others also. It havent helped much to say when i walk in my home study that i'm going to work, pleas let me do that. Sometimes it really makes me mad.
