Do you pretend to text in awkward situations?

Whenever I'm in an awkward or uncomfortable situation - like when I don't want to see someone on the street and I'm alone - I usually find myself typing random things on my phone pretending to text. How about you? Do you do the same?

I have done this too! If I feel awkward or don't want to engage in conversation I will take my phone out and pretend to text etc. If I am passing a large group in the street and I am on my own I will have my phone out and look as if I am using it.

I haven't pretended to text but I have several time pretended to be talking to someone on the phone.
