At every meal time, most mummy will get them selves eat as faster as possible. Some even need to reduce their meal time in order to continue supervise the kids or baby and most baby is clingy to mummy and they just refuse some one else to carry them. Some even need to eat with one hand carrying a baby. We just want to finish the food as fast as possible, not to mention how to enjoy the food.
On other hand, our kids tend to eat as slow as they can. At every meal time, words such as hurry, chew, swallow, eat, faster would be repeated by mummies when the kids tend to keep the food in their mouth. My friend takes 1 to 3 hours to feed her 3 years old son. I don't know why the boy need hours to finish the meal. When the mother cook his favorite food, he eat slow, others food, no need to say, more slow !
Is the boy boring with home cook or mummy's cooking, I don't really know. Perhaps he does not have the appendix to eat. But when comes to milk time, he can finishes within one minute.
How about you, how long time do you need to feed your kids. Or How long is your kids meal time?

When my boy was 3 years old, he usually takes 1-3 hours to finish his meal. However,
when he had his meal in KFC he can eat very fast, especially mashed potatoes. Now he is a grown-up boy. He still takes long hours to finish he meals, probably an hour. He
really takes his time to chew his food well.It is only when he likes his food then he can finish fast. Furthermore he can finish his Maggi Mee in no time because he likes Maggi mee.

Hi James,
Now only I know my friend's son is not the top ! He got a gang here, LOl. HAve you find out what was the reason you son eat so slow when come to his meal time ? Was it a battle time for your wife to feed him? It need to be patient enough to feed this slow eater kids. But I think it is not so good to eat a meal for up to 3 hours time. The meals already cold and might not edible.

Hi James,
Your son is so independent, he can eat on his own at age 3! Bravo! I am amazing how he could be so clever in filter the bones or shells. Did he get the gene from you?
My daughter can feed on her own too, but that will take longer time for her to finish. And what is annoy is she will finish whatever she likes first. For example she eats all the meats and left the rice and vege. She then asks me to refill more meats for her.

When he was at age 3, my wife did not feed him. He ate on his own while watching TV.
He really chews his food well. He is just like a filter. He can 'filter' out fine fish bones and even small debris from the rice. For half boiled eggs he can take out
the tiny broken shells.

Meal time is the biggest task for the mommies with small kids especially for mothers of toddlers and preschoolers. I make sure that the meal time does not exceed 30 minutes..I do not know if this is a longer period or not..but to be frank my son never sits in a place for more than 10 minutes..So it is really a tough time for me to make him to sit for his meal time..So 30 minutes is a very long..long..period for me..

Hi Smilyn,
I think 30 minutes is the ideal time for kids to finish their meal. Kids eat in the way they like. We as the parents just try to let them eat as happy as they want. If they want Cartoon , we let them watch cartoon while eating. If they are picky eater, we try to cook their favorite food they want. We try what ever the best we can. Hope fully they can finish their food on time.

vingyhan06 it has been many years since my son was a kid, but he always'was a fast eater, like his dad while I tended to be much slower but not at all like your friend. in all my life I have never taken an hour 'to eat even as a young mom, or did my two kids, they played, they got
'hungry, they gobbled down their food. I would say your friend is one
in a million with her long meal times.

Hi Hatley,
so good you have a fast eater son. It is always a battle time for mummies when some to feed the picky eater kids. Not easy to prepare food for them needless to say how to feed them. Some kids couldn't sit still to eat, some kids need to watch television while eating.
I think they can eat faster if they are in real hungry! LOL
