This is a song that is very special to me. Almost as if it was written for me. It's about the "one that got away. Losing her changed my entire outlook on the word "love". I wouldn't say its made me heartless, because I definitely have a big heart if i say so myself. I've noticed that I've shown a unique callous in relationships these past few years. I want to let someone into my heart, but i know that its not up to me.My heart is locked away and I've hidden the key somewhere, somewhere that only the right kind of eyes can find. I'm waiting patiently for those eyes to find the key.
ANYWAY, that is the story that goes along with why this song brings a tear to my eye.
The Cure : Pictures of You
Ive been looking so long, at these pictures of you
That I almost believe that they're real
I've been living so long, with my pictures of you
That I almost believe that the pictures are all I can feel
Remembering you, standing quiet in the rain
As I ran to your heart to be near
And we kissed as the sky fell in, holding you close
How I always held close in your fear
Remembering you, running soft through the night
You were bigger, brighter, and whiter than snow
Screamed at the make believe, screamed at the sky
And you finally found all your courage to let it all go
Remembering you fallen into my arms
Crying for the death of your heart
You were stone white, so delicate, lost in the cold
You were always lost in the dark
Remembering you, how you used to be
Slow drowned you were angels, so much more than everything
Hold on for the last time, then slip away quietly
Open my eyes but I never see anything
If only I'd thought of the right words
I could have held onto your heart
If only I'd thought of the right words
I wouldn't be breaking apart, all my pictures of you
Looking so long at these pictures of you
And never hold onto your heart
Looking so long for the words to be true
And always breaking apart, my pictures of you
There was nothing in the world, that I ever wanted more
Than to feel you deep in my heart
There was nothing in the world, that I ever wanted more
Than to never feel the breaking apart, my pictures of you.
Ive shared this with you MyLotters. Now I'd love to hear your story of the song that brings a tear to YOUR eye.

The song that always gets me is Mary Jane by Alanis Morisette. My best friend is a guy and this was our song. We both have been through some pretty rough stuff and was only able to talk to each other about it. We both have a habit of putting on a happy face for the world. For years we always went to this dive bar that had karaoke. A friend of ours who had the most amazing voice and she would sing this song for us. When she sang it, she sounded so eerie and sad. Him and I would only dance with each other when she sang Mary Jane. For the 5 mines this song played, we would close our eyes and dance. We would shut out everything and everyone. We would dance for us and would always hold me so close. He moved out of state a year ago. We are still best friends but I still remember the going away party we had for him. This was the last song of the night. I tried so hard not to cry. When we were dancing, I was singing the song. He stopped me and told me to really sing it. By the time it ended I was crying. I will never forget the tenderness in his voice when I told him I would miss him too much. He whispered so sweetly "I know". Every time I play that song now, all I can think about is my best friend and how much I miss and love him.
What's the matter Mary Jane, you had a hard day
As you place the don't disturb sign on the door
You lost your place in line again, what a pity
You never seem to want to dance anymore
It's a long way down
On this roller coaster
The last chance streetcar
Went off the track
and you're on it
I hear you're counting sheep again Mary Jane
What's the point of trying to dream anymore
I hear you're losing weight again Mary Jane
Do you ever wonder who you're losing it for
Well it's full speed baby
In the wrong direction
There's a few more bruises
If that's the way
You insist on heading
Please be honest Mary Jane
are you happy
Please don't censor your tears
You're the sweet crusader
and you're on your way
You're the last great innocent
and that's why I love you
So take this moment Mary Jane and be selfish
Worry not about the cars that go by
All that matters Mary Jane is your freedom
Keep warm my dear, keep dry
Tell me Tell me
What's the matter Mary Jane
Please be honest Mary Jane
Are you happy

Interesting topic.
For me, I don't recall any one song that always brings tears to my eyes. I think it depends on my mood. Sometimes when I miss my late grandpa, some songs make me cry because they remind me of him. Other times, I don't feel like crying. So, yes, I would say that it depends on my mood most of the time, whether i'm feeling emotional or not.

There are definitely some songs that jerk tears when im in a certain mood, but usually only because I really feel and understand the song. I can put myself in the their shoes and feel what they felt when they wrote the song. Not something I do in public though :D
