I am someone who has to have their hands busy. i tend to fidget or get bored or distracted otherwise. Making origami lucky stars are easy, fun, and really pretty! Do you like origami? What things do you make? Where do you buy your paper, or do you make your own?Origami stars are fun to teach kids or hand out as gifts to others. I make my own paper to print out instead of going to ebay or buying them online. It is difficult to find them here in America. the paper are long thin strips of paper. You make them by ting a knot in one end making a pentagon shape, then you wrap the paper around and around till you have a little left. Tuck the flap under a fold then pinch the corners to pop the star out. I find a 1 to 6 ratio is decent for paper strips. Make them as big or as small as you like. Making these stars are supposed to bring good luck. I made these and had them to decorate tables at my wedding. They look lovely spread around on a table or in a decorative glass bowl or vase. I even had a lamp that had a glass bowl for a base that I stuck them in once. I use a paper cutter and am always on the look out for pretty paper to cut up for stars. The paper can't be too thick though. For instance photo paper is too thick. let me know if you would like a tutorial on making them or to see some of my paper strip designs. SO! Do you like origami stars? Tell me how you share them, display them etc.

I love folding origami! After reading about Sadako Sasaki and the Thousand Paper Cranes in the third grade, I developed an interest in origami. I myself have folded 2000 cranes already and working on my third thousand because I just love paper cranes! And yes, origami lucky stars are easy and very fun to make! I like making earrings out of many lucky stars stringed together. =)

How fun! I enjoy doing stuff like that too. Especially if I make them really tiny. One year we made a lot of big ones and strung them together for Christmas garland. It looks really cool. I also used the garland to hang around my bedroom at one point. I'd love to see some pics of your cranes. It must be quite the fun collection. did you use lots of different paper or mostly just plain white paper?

=) I love hanging my origami designs all over the room. Once for Christmas a few friends and I also folded a lot of lucky stars and made it into a garland. I just buy solid one-colored print paper that comes in many colors and cut them into equal squares. I also buy printed origami paper in craft stores and then cut them into fourths so that I have more paper, and they look prettier.
