Would you add your boss on facebook?

..Or does this create some kind of conflict? Is your facebook professional enough that you feel comfortable adding work associates/superiors on it?
I ask this because currently I have an outstanding friend request and it happens to be from my current boss at Macy's. He seems to have a cool personality and whatnot but I don't know if this breaches an unwritten rule between employees & bosses or something.
One issue to note is that many people, especially the younger ones, tend to incriminate themselves on Facebook - by posing with alcohol or other irresponsible-seeming things. Also, anyone who is your friend has full view of "your wall" - which contains comments from your friends - which could get you in trouble, as well.
So, is it OK to add your boss on Facebook (as a friend) even if your facebook is "work appropriate"? (With no incriminating pictures, messages, or statuses), or is it something to stay away from.. period?
What do you think about this?

No! Don't do it! Like you said, you might incriminate yourself. Maybe not now, maybe not tomorrow, but somewhere down the road a friend might post something that shouldn't be in there. Even if your boss seem to have a good personality, that does not make it OK to add him as friend.
Just tell him your concerns. Tell him you'll add him the day you quit your job!

I won't add him or her even if i quit my job since they might kill me when it comes reference checks. I did add a former boss in friendster and he never respond back i feel so irritated that i remove him from the list. but that's alright since they're just people but not to be-friend with

NO way! maezee, most specially if she/he is strict in anyway! besides facebook is a whole new turf in regards to your own freedom expressing yourself and not to be limited and controlled by someone higher than you. it's not good actually that we have some one higher than us added in face book or they might even use their authority there. i just won't risk it since i don't want to be controlled in that site.

I wouldn't do it. The examples you posted are extremes, but even if a friend of yours posts something on your wall, your boss will be able to see it. I don't think its appropriate unless you have a very good friendship with your boss. I made the mistake of adding some coworker friends, now I have to tell my other friends not to post anything on my wall about interviews I may have had with other companies.
