Me I am going to make my present's to save on money this year. I am very crafty so i decided to make thing's for my family and friend's this year. I know people appreciate present's more when they are hand made. I know not every one is crafty, so share what you are doing this year to save money or maybe you are spending the same amount as last year or spending more because of a bonus you got at work.

My aim is to spend as little as possible. I'll probably just bake away and give these goodies as gifts. I might have to buy something for people whom I know won't appreciate homemade stuff (must I know/be related to people like these, lol), but the budget would be stricter than ever. Times are hard, but trying to keep the holiday cheer, albeit in a more frugal way.

Hi! wahmivy, thank's for responding. good for you baked good's make a great gift for someone, specially since they might not have time to do any baking themselve's. glad you are trying to keep the holiday cheer in these tough time's. how about buying gift's from the dollar store for the one's who don't like baked good's, it would be cheaper than buying from a bigger retail store. just a suggestion for you, keep smiling.

sid556, Hi!. Thank's for responding, i like the idea of a simple holiday. that is the way it used to be, people either made gift's or baked goodie's to give out, and every one was happy to get these kind's or present's, now day's people want expensive thing's. well alot of people cant' afford these kind's of present's due to their budget.

We've always had very small holidays and my kids were always very fine with it. I always wished I could do more because my parents way over did it when I was a kid but ya know what....I actually remember the other things we did more than the gifts. We try to do a bit more for the kids. The adults...we do a yankee swap. We did one a couple years ago with household items or something we made. It was so much fun.

I will probably end up spending more money this year than I did last year since I was just finishing college and not employeed. I will however be spending as wisely as I can. I'll probably make some food type items for some people as those would be more appreciated than items that would just clutter up the house. I'll just continue to spend wisely and within a budget.

we are spending less this year on christmas because my hubby lost his job in august. i am making presents for a lot of people this year so it will be somewhat cheaper. also, i am recycling gifts and visiting thrift stores a lot more these days.

Well I am spending less this year, but it's not really due to the economy!
I've just had some changes that have affected me, due to accrueing some extra expenses!
There is one job that I do, that has been affected by the bad economy! I am in the music business, and there does seem to be a slow down of it, people are just not going out as much, and the clubs are not hiring bands right now! Luckily I have other jobs that bring me some income!

Hi. Lucky for you that you are a creative person. Well I think I will be spending the same amount of money I spent last year on presents. The presents I mostly give are the wish list of the person that will receive so there will be no unwanted presents that way there is no waste of money as the giver and the receiver will both be happy.

Thank's for responding. that is a very good idea to give some one a gift from their wish list, that way they get want they want.

Hi purplerose ,I like your idea for personalized gifts, that is very sweet and special! I will definitely make a budget for all the things I am going to buy this coming Holiday. I don't want to spend a lot for gifts. Since I already made list on what to buy and I already canvassed how much money to spend, I was able to know if I can save more or less this season. Because last year, I bought gifts/presents two days before Christmas, which is not a very good idea. I was not able to plan what to buy and which one will save me more money.
Happy Lotting!

Hi! Thank's for responding. your right it's not a good idea to buy gift's two day's before Christmas, because then you are rushing around trying to find something for every one on your list. good for you for making a budget and sticking with it, that way you spend to much.
