we are equal as human beings. But there are certain skills which men are more capable than woman and vice versa. The only one stupid is the one who is not open minded to understand a question from a wider perspective. Viewing it from its most simple sense show how simple-minded a person may be!!

Yes men are better at some things and likewise women are better at some things

yup, thus proves my point that the person who said this was a stupid question was actually talking about himself/herself

Because every one has equal rights regardless of race, age, height and nationality. Women should not be treated inferior and should be given equal opportunities as us, men. We should respect their actions and always support them. Only for the past fifty years were women given opportunities to succeed and it is a great thing to bring our gender equality. New Zealand was the first country to give women driving license and the right to vote. However, there are some traditional and religious beliefs about women being inferior to men which make me sad

yup! I believe in equal treatment of men and women. However, the reality that there are certain areas where we are different still exists and could not be reconciled. Nevertheless, we must move to making the gap closer

Women are equal to men because they're all human beings. As far as having different strengths or skills I wish people would cut that out as an explanation of inequality, because it's not valid. First, people (men, mostly) need to stop using the definition of "same" as equal. Lets say you have two kids. I'm sure they are different and have different skills and strengths and one is better than the other at some things and vice versa. Does that mean a parent should or would view one as inferior? No. They're equal -equally valued (for any good parent) equally loved, equally thought of as human beings. Same has no place in this. I'd love it if each male -at least the chauvinists- were introduced to three women who were more advanced than they were in a variety of ways, intelligence, skills, stamina, possibly strength if you could find women that fit. Although strength shouldn't be the one yardstick to measure things by. And, I'd like to see just how many men would step back and say that since they don't measure up, that means they aren't equal to those women. Ha. Not a single one. And, yet, women are supposed to measure their equality by these check marks. And, if someone does want to use the definition of equal as same, why divide it along gender lines? No two men are equal by that criteria. I defy anyone to name me two men who have the exact same skills, the exact amount of strength, the exact intelligence down to the 1/1000th of an IQ point. It can't be done. So, by that definition, we're equal because none of us are equal. So, trying to divide it up along gender lines makes no sense. And in this day and age this question should not need to be asked. It should be gone out with "Is the Earth flat?"

I feel that woman are equal to men. My grandparent's generation did not think so though. According to them, the man was the head of the household and had first choice not only above his wife, but above his children too. Woman have more than proved that they are just as cable. They are equal, but different. I for one am glad that men and woman are different as opposites attract. - Derek
