Hi,
Do u observe one thing since last few years. Our basic needs like food, cloths and house are become costly as years passess. But at the same time electroninc goods like tv, mobile ,computer are become cheaper.
For example, three year back i bought one nokia handset for Rs 5500, last year price of same piece was Rs 4000 and now this it is Rs 2500.
Now another part, now days sugar is Rs 35 per kg, last year it was Rs 20, and before that it was Rs15 per kg.
We really need to think over it. Because if same proportion will continue, one day will come when availability of food and related things will be less. and price will not affordable for common peoples. Intertaining things and electronic goods can make life easy bou can never satiesfy our thirs and hunger.
Have a nice day

Hi tana..What you say is so very true. The basic cost of living is sky rocketing and wages remain the same. I find that a trip to the grocery store seems to cost more with each visit. 2 years ago you could figure about 10.00 per bag. Today it is much more like 20.00 The same is true for cosmetics, cleaning products, pet foods and the list goes on and on. Yes it also true that electronics get cheaper and cheaper but have you eaten a laptop lately? Not too tasty. I find that cell phones need lots of salt and televisions give me heartburn..Do I make my point? I am in total agreeance with you..

Hi tanajimengawade, yeah. Basic things are going costlier and will continue to do so! Bad news, isn't it? Unless we do something about the population! People can live without electronic goods, but living without food, clothing, shelter, and medicines is impossible! What are our choices, either we kill our elderly like the way it was done in a movie called Logan's Run, or we stop having more children. Western people cant be blamed. They do have adoption policies and many of them adopt children. In India, very few people adopt! Is it because they look after their elderly? Oh no! Even elderly are being left helpless, which is the reason the Senior Citizens law had to be promulgated. Looks like v r having a generation that doesnt want their elders, and doesnt want another woman's child. They are, however, quite willing to give their children for adoption, even if it means depriving a really helpless orphan of a home! Such magnanimous attitude, isn't it? After all, it means they can try once more for child of the gender of their choice (read male). I think their wisdom and smartness or is it selfishness should be applauded considering the costs of bringing up that child that they get to avoid. There is a nice Indian mylotter here, Ajayrocks. I agree with his thinking. He says, he will have one child of his own, and one child he would adopt. That is the way to go baby. But instead, we r fighting over Hindu population numbers, Muslim population numbers, upper caste numbers, scheduled caste numbers, blah blah. Tell u what, even if law made it mandatory that everybody should have only one child, and adopt another, then we will still make a racket of that. We have out here womenfolk willing to sell their babies for a few thousands! So - we do need a sterner look at this problem, before we reach a situation where we are left with no more land to grow food because choices are either accommodate the population, or grow food for them. There should be a simple ban for second child may be like in China for the next 40 years. I am sorry but that is the only logical way I can think of solving this.

I remember about two years ago. My wife and I usually go grocery shopping together. In almost every payday, we need to buy basic goods like sugar, rice, milk, coffee, detergent, bath soap, meat, cooking ingredients like salt, oil, etc. We usually go out shopping with at least one thousand pesos. And with that amount, we can bring home 2 to 3 plastic grocery bags. But these days, we seldom go shopping for groceries on regular basis. Sometimes we buy goods with the same amount but the number of bags brought home could only be 1 or 2 bags. Sometimes we just don't go out to buy in supermarket, just in the market and sometimes, we just buy what our money can buy, say we left with 500, we just buy few kilos of rice, half of sugar, one kilo of meat. The cost of living really goes high, but the salaries and wages of workers remain just enough if not, not enough for the basic necessities.

Yeah. Here in the U.S., everything is getting pretty expensive, too. With the problems in the economy and everything, a lot of people have been suffering to pay for their basic needs. Fortunately, we don't have any issues yet, but you never know. The price of milk, rice, eggs, and everything has increased by a lot. Electronic devices are getting more expensive, and gas prices have started to rise again. I hope Obama can solve some issues soon...

Inflation and the economy and the governments debt and spending problems are not helping. Me and my husband will have been married 3 years on the 17th of November, but we are still living in my parents house. It's not like we are lazy either. I have finished school, and he is working full time, but it is just so hard and uncertain in the world right now. For the ones starting out, it is like a minefield. Trying to navigate and not get blown up with bad luck and financial problems is nearly impossible.
My mother keeps a n eye on food prices and even canned goods are jumping up in prices. It is a sign of the times. Thank goodness my Mom's been doing food storage.
Here's wishing you all are able to make it!

Oh god.. How much difference in the cost of living now a days. All because of IT.Whether the IT people is earning more or not If they work for a good concern outside people will think they are getting good pay. When an IT company comes in an area the cost of living of that area is increasing like anything. In 2005 people were able to surive with 2000 bugs including food, accomodation, transport etc.But now it has become more than 10000 bugs.Rent has increased like anything.people are making use of it all the time.

You are certainly right. Prices of basic commodities are really getting high. I think this most of the countries right now are being affected by the economic crisis. I do hope that the situation will improve and that prices will go down. Otherwise, life will be hard for everyone.

Things are definitely getting very difficult right now! I love gadgets but I cannot afford to buy anymore gadgets! Food and clothing as well as shelter, these things are most important but even these things are becoming very expensive now! I sometimes wonder if things will ever improve! I'm stuck in debt and I'm slowly working on clearing my debts and eventually I might just have some money leftover for me to play with. Andrew

Yes everything that we need for basic living is going up. I can't imagine what its going to be in ten years. Its very scary and I just don't understand why this keeps happening. The prices at the supermarket every two weeks is going up. I have to continue to cut down because I just can't afford to be dishing out more money for food when I don't have a job. Its scary times and I don't know how much we the people can take. Something has to be done to stop this abuse.

Why this has started, God knows. Basic needs are getting costly and other non essentials are getting cheaper. Situation has taken such a shape as if we will avoid taking food and will remain busy with pc, cellphone, tv etc. So practical rude these problems are!
Have a great day.

Good discovery out there friend and i must tell you that you are a good observer, and it call for a talk , cos it might soon get to that level, basic need are necessary if anybody care and for that reason the money to get it must not be too expensive. however i believe you and i are the solution let keep shouting about. happy lotting

You hit the nail my friend! And the reason for that is the law of supply and demand! The Higher the demand the higher the expenses the higher the cost! The lower the demand the lower the expenses and sales, the lower the cost rather, than putting the products in garbage. happy mylotting!

hi you are so right and while I would not part with my computer or monitor, we should be able to afford to feed and clothe ourselves without going bankrupt'and its nice to see electronic things coming down in price, I do wish the cost of'just eating and sleeping and housing would also come down the same way. it is greed I think that causes a lot of this, but whatever I do wish we could strike a happy balance so it would not be so hard just to buy the basic necessities of life.

Definitely, Food price are through the roof. It might be due to scarcity or supply manipulation by the corporations. Inflation is most likely the culprit. The reason why you say the prices of electronics are down is because it is not a necessity like food and is dependant on the economy. For example when a family goes shopping with $100 dollars they must choose between food and that dvd player. Clearly they will choose need over want.
